  1. Woah Twilight couldn't beat No Other Woman? That was a surprise considering the week it was shown it owned 90% of the screens
  2. Mission Impossible 4: Ghost ProtocolGlorietta mall, Philippines (regular cinema only)95% full out of a 400 seater theater (TrailersBattleship - Good response with the special effectsGI Joe: Retaliation - no reactionSnow White & The Huntsman - some reaction when "Bella" and "Thor" appearedMadagascar 3 - some laughsHugo - no reactionMovie:Really great actions scenes, people were engaged. Simon Pegg was a great comic relief. Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner did solid job and there were some reactions like "Tom Cruise is old!" when he first showed up on screen but overall Tom did a fine job
  3. Three straight disappointments for Warner Brothers [Happy Feet 2, New Year's Eve and Sherlock Holmes!] Summer was good for them but fall is really giving them a difficult time
  4. No update at the Philippine Box Office index at Box Office Mojo yet
  5. New movie releases this week:ImmortalsNew Year's EveArthur ChristmasNext weekLion King 3DMission Impossible: Ghost ProtocoalThen time for the annual local film festival although Mission Impossible will stay on IMAX theaters
  6. It will be shown here on February 2012
  7. Immortals moved from Nov. 30 to Dec. 7 so TinTin will be the sole foreign release this week. Let's see how this one fairs, marketing has been aggressive
  8. ^ Puss i Boots is listed as La Véritable histoire du chat botte http://boxofficemojo.com/intl/philippines/?yr=2011&wk=43&p=.htm
  9. And why is Puss in Boots have a different title in Box Office Mojo's Philippine Box Office?
  10. I'm surprised it did a little lower than Eclipse considering Breaking Dawn's release was oversaturated
  11. Insane but not surprising at all. No distributor bothered to counterprogram it and even the week before the new movie releases were thin
  12. Local movie Praybeyt Benjamin beat Harry Potter now with $7.4 mil against DH II's $6.9 mil. I think it's safe to say Breaking Dawn will beat Harry Potter as well, it had no competition when it opened and it feels like 90% of the screens is just showing that movie and this week Happy Feet 2 is the only major release so 2nd week drop won't be that huge. I personally find it annoying but well Twilight has a huge following here because the country loves romanctic movies that's why majority of the mainstream local movies are all about love
  13. Happy Feet 2 4 pm, November 19 (press screening) IMAX, SM Mall of Asia, Philippines 90% full Just one trailer before the screening The Dark Knight Returns teaser - not much reaction Review: Happy Feet 2 dealt with a lot of topics that include the interconnectivity of the ecosystem, environmental threats, false prophets, parenthood troubles, existentialism, growing up and finding your voice. Yes all of it. It’s a lot of topics to deal with and given the limited running time, hard to flesh out. The movie raises some good insights with each issue they touched upon but with too many big and complex ideas the narrative loses focus. Crowd responded well on the musical numbers but went wild with UNDER PRESSURE. The technical side of the movie is top notch. While you can still enjoy the movie in regular 2D, the 3D experience will be worth the premium ticket price because of its amazing visuals. A lot of 3D movies released recently didn’t feel like 3D added anything to the experience but this one is immersive and not just in the throw-something-in-the-audience kind of way but it complemented the setting perfectly Happy Feet 2 is a gorgeous animated movie and definitely a visual delight. And despite suffering from an indecisive screenplay, Happy Feet 2 still shines because it’s downright entertaining and sometimes that’s just what we need. B
