WOM is good but Hollywood movies are really frontloaded here so sadly i don't think EOT will have that much legs

From BOM: Coinciding with its domestic debut, How to Train Your Dragon 2 opened in a handful of international markets this weekend. Including some minor debuts last weekend, the movie has earned $26.1 million so far. It had a huge $12.8 million debut in Russia, and had the biggest animated opening ever in Malaysia ($2.3 million) and Singapore ($1.7 million). It also had the second-biggest animated opening in the Philippines ($1.9 million) and India ($1.2 million). Next weekend, it expands to 28 additional markets including Australia, Brazil and Mexico, and should ultimately have no trouble out-grossing its predecessor ($277 million).

THE FAULT IN OUR STARS” GATHERS THE LARGEST OF CONSTELLATION AT PHILIPPINES’ BOX-OFFICE AT P52 MILLION OPENING via press release The phenomenal bestselling book by John Green, “The Fault In Our Stars,” adapted to film starring today’s most talented young actors Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort is now a certified blockbuster film on its opening weekend across the globe. Like fate, the movie’s success has already been written in the stars when it opened to a lustrous P52 million in just four (4) days after it opened (June 5) in the Phils., likewise, it also earned a brilliant $48 million in the U.S. on its opening weekend. Too bad for EOT, great movie. TFIOS is indeed frontloaded but 48M for an OW is huge for a drama like this

I think Edge of Tomorrow will win slightly over Fault in the Stars in the box office since it has more screens plus 3D and IMAX and more expensive tickets but I will not be surprised if TFIOS will sneak in at #1, long lines in the theaters! It's actually good week in the box office even holdover X-Men, Maleficent and Maybe This Time are still getting lines

How to Train Your Dragon 2 will have sneak peak screenings in select theaters on June 9 & 10 starting at 5pm. Regular showing on June 11 I think it will do well Animated sequels usually perform better than originals/non sequels and this has adult appeal as well

According to Disney, that's 40 percent ahead of Oz The Great and Powerful across the same group of territories. The movie's biggest market was Mexico, where it opened to a 2014-best $13.4 million.
