That's a nice expansion box office number for St. Vincent

Boxtrolls took a huge dip against Book of Life, looks like it will end around 50M. Book of Life's budget is only 50M so it won't be that hard to be profitable This is Where I Leave You earned 33M on a 19.8M budget, not bad Alexander already surpassed its budget, might give Disney a small profit in the en d Equalizer and Maze Runner so close to that 100M but looks like they won't make it, maybe 96-97M finish? Under $1M for the GOTG, what a great run

No family competition until Big Hero 6 so crossing my fingers for good legs for BOL Alexander did really well I must say, it's been awhile since Disney had a midbudget live action movie hit

Japan almost always get things late but do they have good piracy control so some movies still do well even if their are copies online already

I didn't find the trailer appealing too and I didn't get what the story is all about so I was pleasantly surprised how good it was when I watched it

Book of Life on par with Boxtrolls, hoping for good legs but my dream of 100M DOM is dead

Delightful enough for family entrainment, I like the cast well even the kids

I wrote this review for a local website but here's an excerpt: Truth be told, The Book of Life is jam-packed with many subplots and themes that it was in danger of becoming an overstuffed mess. But thankfully, skillful direction and vibrant animation prevented the movie from going off the rails. The Book of Life tells a charming tale that fuses cultural myth and heartwarming personal saga so effectively that only a heart made of stone will not fall for its charms. The depiction of the two realms, The Land of the Remembered and The Land of the Forgotten, was so rich that you could clearly see and feel the passion behind it. Having the similar All Souls Day, the Mexicans' Day of the Dead will definitely strike a chord to Filipino moviegoers as its message, of honoring our deceased loved ones by celebrating their lives, resonates to us. Even if the plot revolves around a love triangle, The Book of Life manages to shake things up by making Maria a spirited woman who fights for her cause. And while Manolo is the obvious leading man, his romantic rival Joaquin did not go to the predictable antagonist route. The movie's attempt to add a contemporary style to their age-old setting was also commendable as they did it with such confidence that it didn't feel forced at all. A Latin-flavored rendition of famous songs such as Radiohead's Creep and Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love might sound horrifying at first but the treatment and timing were so perfect that the end results were simply charming.

Good hold for Alexander considering Book of Life opened as well. Rooting for good legs for BOL in the weeks before Big Hero 6 arrives Gone Girl's run is so great!

^ I haven't seen a poster or trailer actually but a press release was issued just last week for it so it seemed kind of random

I checked movie listings and it's slated for release next week (Oct. 22)

Happy with Alexander's OW. I want Disney to have a midlevel hit, this year they had the big guns (GOTG, Cap 2 and Maleficent) and flops (Planes 2, Muppets 2) nothing in the middle yet.

Tom Hanks is my #1 actor but I agree he is not immune to flops as well, he had a string of box office disappointments before Captain Phillips but during his peak in the 90s, I think he could have taken a movie like The Judge to bigger box office. I think if The Judge had better reception or if Gone Girl was not doing as well as it is, it could have performed a tad better

But no new data on BOM yet though and their twitter (and Ray Subers') is still quiet. Amazon better not mess with BOM, unlike when the forums were shut down, BOM "shut down" news yesterday received major news in industry sites.

I hope BOM isn't dead. Here in the Philippines, we use BOM to track local Box Office because there are no other sites/companies who do that at all

Don't agree with Subers, he's no Brandon at all.He's fine but Shawn's analysis here on this site is better IMO. But for pure number BOM beat BO.com handdown
