  1. Definitely agree. The Saturday increase even with previews inflated (which is very rare for summer comedies in July and AUgust, is a good sign going forward).
  2. IO should get to $350M. Vacation is not going to be THAT BIG. It will be more on the level of Tammy (Social Media Buzz is worse than Tammy at this rate, which is even weaker than expected given that it should be doing way better due to the brand). Keep in mind, it increased on Saturday even with inflated previews. For this type of film, it could have decreased like Bad Teacher and The Ugly Truth. Other than Vacation & Paper Towns (targeting females with the latter targeting teens due to it being from the creator of TFIOS, which was frontloaded despite fantastic WOM), it doesn't have much competition for the rest of the summer for the targeted audience. Plus, having the same audience percentage as Bridesmaids is a great sign going forward with its legs. If Bridesmaids can survive against Hangover 2, why can't TW hold well in the 30s for its third weekend. Less than $120M for Trainwreck? Not happening, IMO. 4+ multiplier is a lock if it can drop under 40% next weekend, which is happening for now. I'm thinking more like $130-150M as its final total but could go higher depending on how it holds during the week and female-oriented films during the summer often have strong weekdays.
  3. At least, IO isn't another Brave, but I'm still baffled why it had to release in the summer instead of the fall like other Disney movies?
  4. For Sure, plus I've seen a lot of night sell-outs. In fact, I've seen more for it than Ant-Man.
  5. I know it's a long shot but I would not be surprised if Trainwreck's 2nd weekend beat Ant-Man next week.
  6. I've seen a lot of night showings that are almost full or sold out for TW. Spy fell apart at night because that was the type of movie that did well during the day because it skewed much older (Melissa McCarthy has a lot of older fans than Schumer).
  7. I remember IO last week was only at $4M only to rose to $5M (20% behind Thursday in matinees but surged well at night). Thanks for clarification.
  8. Its twitter and Flixster Activity is very low. There's still a few days to do gain traction but I doubt it will do more than We're the Millers. It'll be more on the level of Let's Be Cops and Tammy.
  9. Paper Towns will probably open with $30M but anything above $40M will shock me. TFIOS had more starpower (Woodley + Elgort came hot off of Divergent). Plus, social media activity is behind it but is still good enough for a high 20s to low 30s opening, which would still be a great number.
