I was talking about Titanic and yes it was in many ways what the original SW was for boys, that movie they went to see 5,10 and even 20 times in the theater.

It had a lot of repeat viewers, mainly young girls, and they were the major reason for it's ungodly run.

These days, a lot of that repeat viewing would be done with a pirated screener, or an iffy cam recording.

You should start with the ones which don't have song and dance, or at least the ones which relegate the song and dance to the background. Maybe start with something like "Chak De India" or Lagaan which are both sports based movies and are much easier to relate to since they speak a common theme of victory over the enemy through sports.

Thanks for the tips. I rather like sports movies even though I generally don't care for sports.

  3. Just saw it, not really sure what to think. I want to like it, but the characters outside of Ethan and Martin ranged from boring to annoying to just shrill in the case of Laurie. Martin might've been better off letting that dude with the awful accent marry her.

I'm also not particularly fond of the Deus Ex Idiot plot device leading them to Scar. Made most of Ethan and Martin's search pointless when some character, whom I don't recall even being hinted at as having gone off to look, just appears out of the ether and leads them to the camp. Twice!

The scenes done on location were beautifully shot, but it made the transitions to the scenes shot on sound stages jarring.
