Anything over 155 for the weekend would be great.

Finn is not related to Lando, or Mace, or Panaka, or Typho
He's related to Willrow Hood.

Why would being Finn having an American accent mean hes Lando's kid? He was kidnapped when he was a baby and raised to be a storm trooper, and accents aren't genetic.

We still listen to CinemaScore?
I wont see any movie that gets less than an A.

But I wanted it to beat IM3s OW, so I definitely am disappointed.
Not really, though. Anything over The Hunger Games OW and I'm happy.
-
I'd be a little surprised if non-playoff basketball really had much of an effect.

That number doesn't add up. I know Monday had a softer than normal drop due to spillover, but for Friday to be below the first Monday is bonkers.

That seems low. Oh well.

Hopefully it's a 60/40 split in Star Wars favor. Probably closer to 50/50, though.

If TFA is gonna be in the 170s, then no lower than 175 please.

28m and Avatar's weekend holds give it:
Fri: 58m
Sat: 71m
Sun: 61m
190m weekend (I then buy 60,000 IMAX 3D tickets to make sure it scores an extra 1m and beats AoU's OW)
I have a hard enough time just processing this movies 2nd weekend potentially passing Iron Man 3. To even consider AoU I just...I finally know what the kids mean when they can't even, because seriously, i just can't even.

So is TFA all but guaranteed to have two weekends in the top 10 weekends now? That 2nd weekend won't just squeak by either, it could go as high as #5.

Wonder how long it's gonna take before my brain stops reading TFA as The First Avenger. It's mildly annoying having to constantly correct myself ;p.

I think if he was planning on not giving any info he would have hinted he would be out of the loop tonight or something.
Maybe, maybe not, Rth works in mysterious ways.

Same could be said for Superman 2 and Spiderman 2.
Nah, nobody could say either of those two are the best Star Wars movies.

Christmas Eve has probably gotta be one of the harder days to extrapolate from matinees. Even if they're rocking, there's no telling just how hard things will crash when evening hits.

Good question. Where was Marlon Brando billed in Superman 1?
Going by old posters, top billing with Hackman 2nd.

Only in retrospect though. At time of release, it didn't have the greatest reviews.
Even then, look at how the Special Edition releases performed. It was still the same, and by that time the general consensus had been reached.

yes but one big note here, Ultron was really bad. If Episode VII will be better in quality its gonna be massive.
The Empire Strikes Back is widely considered to be not only the best Star Wars movie, but one of the best movies of all time. It still decreased massively from A New Hope.

is that the highest 2nd weekend ever?
It would be the 5th highest all time OW, topping Iron Man Three by ~4 mil.

Most theaters in the US don't have reserved seating yet, though it's becoming increasingly common in the cities and for premium theaters.
10 minutes ago, CJ Ren said:That is the weirdest fucking thing ever to me since every theater chain here has reserved sitting. Even the shitty ones!
I live in LA county and we didn't have reserve seating in my area till sometime between Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, and it was only just at one theater (may have only been at one screen, too.) It's available at more, now, but still not the norm.

That YA stories have kind of reached their zenith and are going the way of the do do bird.
At least the dystopian variety will. I'll always hold out hope for a return to the zany '80s style coming-of-age YA movies.

The reason it fell yesterday and has a chance to go up today is because usually films go up on discount Tuesday because there is room to go up. But with TFAS, every day is behaving like a Friday, people are seeing it every day so there is no uptick in attendance on Tuesday because it's already selling out every day like it was a Friday. So when you offer cheaper tickets, even though you are selling the same amount as Monday, the gross comes in less because the tickets aren't as expensive. Wednesday's numbers seems to support that theory somewhat.
Just a theory.
Probably on the money.
