  1. 2008 blew my mind with how many of the films seemed interconnected. So many of the horrors and dramas all dealt with psychological issues, drug addiction, schitzophrenia, and more. It was crazy 'reading' all of that watching through them. However I probably overread it. It seemed Dark Knight, Indiana Jones, Wall-E, and Iron Man brought out more then the everyday moviegoer in 2008, and what was leftover at the end of the awards year just got darker, more isolated, and more looney and confused the hell out of everyone who was asking where the hell is The Dark Knight?. It was like the end of the year was the 2008 movie Finals/exams and it just kept layering. I noticed this year, alot of the movies seem to converge with similar themes too. As is the history of film, I think. Here are some of the films I am talking about: The Eye, Mirrors, One Missed Call, The Lazarus Project, Shutter X-Files 2, Blindness, The Reader, Changeling, Hellboy 2, The Wrestler, Speed Racer, Deception, In Bruges, The Dark Knight RockNRolla, Max Payne, Rachel Getting Married, Revolutionary Road, Synechdoche N.Y., Doubt, Benjamin Button

  3. I think because of Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and The Dark Knight, a lot of people might have frequented the movies more in 2008 and ignored quality/reviews. Just a general summoning to the movies year IMO.
  4. There could be a way to "write in" movies. Paddington 2 made the 2017 rankings this year I think, and it might do it again for 2018 lists.
  5. If Insidious flopped, the second half of that movie would probably be the setting bunch of direct-to-video sequels featuring "the Netherworld.

  8. since this is a box office forum, I hope this movie flops I think I am permanently scarred against musicians now w/ the mindset of having a daughter or something... Why would a Rockstar choose the things they do in order to be a role model and 'groom' horny young teenage girls in the audience? Most of the Rock and Roll kids are runaways i'm guessing that need a home away from home or a new parental figure? AKA ... it is like The NOTEBOOK, except the Rockerstar has the job and the person with no job is in virtual reality-land and *has no business grooming daughter.
  9. I thought Winchester had good haunted house production design. I hope The Nun is just as good.
  10. it's exciting how this story of a predator breaks out around Predator's OW. so fun fun fun (staged?), where is the Disney magic? are they making animatronic aliens soon?
  11. God Bless the Broken Road also has ties with the military, country music, and the military so there is a decent chance it could outperform the small internet footprint it's made and ascend through the top ten.
  12. A Quiet Place opened and had the legs of a Nolan movie (Dunkirk, Batman Begins, Interstellar). I doubt The Nun makes it to 150 w/ the same 50ish weekend.
  13. surprised to see Fox pushing for over 3,900 theaters next weekend. Second weekend in September after The Nun goes to 3,800+. I guess Kingsman 2 went to 4,003 OW though on September 22nd last year.
  14. not too good for Peppermint. The Nun looking to beat A Quiet Place @ 50.2 and possibly Paranormal Activity 3 @ 52.6 (PA3 also R-rated)
