  1. might as well predict the second weekend like Crazy Rich Asians. CRA went like -5% against Happytime Murders and A.X.L. will The Nun be Over/Under 20 million in the second weekend going against OW of Predator, Unbroken 2, White Boy Rick, and A Simple Favor?
  2. #1 - CRA - 27.5% #2 - Meg - 8.7% #3 - HM - 6.8% #4 - Mi6 - 6.7% #5 - Operation - 6.7% impressive for Operation Finale, it should at least come in a tie tomorrow at #5 with Christopher Robin. the other new releases, Kin and Searching, are going to compete for #5 tomorrow night.
  3. If Operation Finale can average the same $274 that Black Klansman averaged on Monday, it will get 0.5 million + previews. Black Klansman and Happytime Murders both had around the same PTA on Monday, while The Meg was up +10% on those two.
  4. lol @ big budget movies shaping up to be a disaster. taking a creative risk by drawing w/ chalk over pavement?
  5. lol @ this movie coming out 3 weeks before Goosebumps... Jack Black reprises his role in Goosebumps 1 with this movie, The House With A Clock In Its Walls. House with a Clock could approach the 24 million opening weekend of Goosebumps 1. Goosebumps 2 comes out 3 weeks after (minus Jack Black), and might not capture as much on opening weekend as the original (~24 million) but House/Clock has to amount past 10 million on opening weekend first. - 1.6M YouTube Views Trailer #1 - 2.6M YouTube Views Trailer #2 1M increase is good, if 1M people go out on OW, that could be 10 million right there. Should make 16-26 OW.
  6. updated weekend predictions with Tuesday #s
  7. good 88% on the RT audience score so far... https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/operation_finale 6.7 IMDB score https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5208252/?pf_rd_m=A2FGELUUNOQJNL&pf_rd_p=2413b25e-e3f6-4229-9efd-599bb9ab1f97&pf_rd_r=5WM6SPGGDZVG3XQ35WBH&pf_rd_s=right-2&pf_rd_t=15061&pf_rd_i=homepage&ref_=hm_otw_t1 not many reviews on Metacritic http://www.metacritic.com/movie/operation-finale
  8. has anyone else noticed TV service providers, Netflix, and movie streaming are wrecking the original edits of movies? (or were the always this bad) Can anyone with a didactic memory press this theory? I feel like I need to get VHS tapes of original movies, take notes, and compare. Be Kind Rewind 2008-2018????
  9. Never seen Schindler's List. The theater would probably ruin the experience. Might need to get an old VHS tape to take notes off of first before watching it get chopped up and edited by Spectrum Cable. Did anyone catch a report on Operation Finale's Tuesday box office preview? Discount Tuesday night likely increased #s and WOM. https://deadline.com/2018/07/oscar-isaac-operation-finale-opening-labor-day-weekend-1202426991/
  10. I had Operation Finale making between 0.1 and 0.2 million in Tuesday night previews. Holy shit at it being #2 on Pulse, I put 6 million for the 5-day prediction.... maybe it gets that much over Fri+Sat+Sun now

  12. I think revisiting a year in film can be healthy. - it helps shed the mental timestamp on each film if you let it. As a lone atheist, I feel empowered to choose which memories to consider or overwrite. (breathe fresh air into tainted movies/memories). Then you can talk about or bring up the same movies on your own ground and be in control without feeling like you are reliving something. (and then you wont have to avoid those certain movies). I feel like that would be similar to looking through personal photo albums where you are the little birdie on each side of your shoulder and all the other voices struck out.
  13. Sorry to Bother You and Jurassic World might be making a final push this weekend. Incredibles 2 should be adding what it can. I've been guessing Hereditary would expand too, but any expansions will only damage WOM, lol. Also guessing - Teen Titans, Skyscraper, Eighth Grade,
  14. boy, that old Happytime Murders is #3 on MT right now. I bet it will have a HUUUGE increase. +50%. Doctors should be ordering patients to go see Happytime Murders today! Do doctors ever prescribe films?
  15. tough weekend to predict spots #11-#30. anyone know which ones will get re-released in theaters this weekend? Ant-Man 2, HT3, Incredibles 2 will probably occupy the increased showings (or vacant slots) and have the other expansions dominated.
  16. apparently In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is pulling in a strong fan vote on Metacritic. Metascore is 1.5, User score is 7.8 w/ 392 10 out of 10's. IMDB is 3.8. that might be worth a FYC for the 2008 revisiting. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/in-the-name-of-the-king-a-dungeon-siege-tale Awards & Rankings 63 #63 Most Discussed Movie of 2008
  17. Laurie Strode and the "neighboring Halloween mayhem" is likely a niche category when looking at "scream queens" in film. There is only so many, and they can be remade quickly now. The sci-fi/horror overlap with Ripley and Sarah Connor as heroine's would overshadow any of the "regular" horror female protagonists in the ranks.
  18. Laurie Strode (Halloween-78) at #79... not looking good then for the other horror characters. Michael Myers likely voted under Laurie Strode. Freddy and Jason possibly voted under Michael. Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates (Psycho) might still have a shot as showing up depending on how villains were weighed in with voting. I had a hard time weighing heroes and villains in such a list. The character list for me was just trying to dodge a personal character analysis by mixing it up.
  19. is it possible to give an honest review or assessment of a film and avoid libel in the assessment? Particularly with movies involving musicians???
  20. it feel like trying to convict someone of something is like pre-meditative violence
  21. some should not be expected to repent or confess to their sins, they should not be pressured into it, nor ever have to. and they shouldn't have to feel bad about it because it isn't their fault.
  22. gonna need 3x the average attendance from yesterday to today (roughly 120 purchases per location from 40 yesterday) Saturday needs to then +33% to top out at 13 million. RT audience score is better then I expected at 43%. Intel from BOT had me thinking that RT score would be down further... Would be interested to see first response reviews from the usual Friday morning early birds w/ the new openers. Does a social media feed have this? Particularly responses from the age 90+ crowd.
  23. insane drop for Mi6 and The Meg in the runner up positions. Stable overperforming business with Crazy Rich Asians
