  1. STAR WARS will okay for the summer, but I've heard rumors that there might be a Bond movie that winter from the director of COAL MINER's DAUGHTER, and trust me, that team-up with BROSNAN would be amazing!!! Coming off of TOMORROW NEVER DIES' guaranteed billion dollar gross, George Lucas should be very afraid!!

What the hell are you talking about. No movie has grossed a billion dollars...ever! Only film that had a chance was The Lost World and it dissapointed. Spielberg let me down.James Bond will certainly never cross a billion...
  2. I Have actually been to the Sky Superscreen. After going to a Tron: Legacy preview back in 2010 my mate and I rushed over to the O2 so that we could see Saw 3D before we came back to Hastings. We somehow managed to get in to the VIP section there without realising. How big is that screen from the cheap seats?

great view even from standard seats. Best seats i found were If i recall correctly best view  where the stairs start for the higher seats. Think it was 3-4 row higher than the barrier. I'll probably go see Star Trek 2 so will have a better look. Last film i saw there was Xmen First Class, so a bit hazy on the seating:)

Wouldn't recommend balcony seating though as from what friends as it seems you're looking down at the screen.

  3. I want to try out some more IMAXs, i've only been to the pukka one at the BFI and the cineworld Liemax in Crawley. Wouldn't mind checking out an xtreme screen either. And Odeon's iSense too.

Better of seeing a movie in liemax than xtreme screen. Also the sky superscreen in o2 is brilliant. Very nice auditorium. Biggest liemax i have been to is Swiss cottage. Their screen is second only to BFI Imax if i recall correctly. Bigger than the one in greenwich odeon anyhow

  4. TDK is a Masterpiece of major flaws and whatnot fueled on by 1 Man's untimely death in the form of Heath Ledger.. That bank robbery in the beginning was as hokey as they come, right down to backing a fucking school bus through the side of the bank and inside to load the $$$$ and no one the outside calls for Police much less hears anything going on.. So many people in this bank and no one uses there cell phone to call for help, especially when cell phones play a big part in this movie... All I can say, is that Nolan's dick must be awfully sore from the amount of fanboy lapping going on with this guy...

    Awww that's cute
  5. Yeah. Early 90's Starlin, Len Kaminksi, and Steve Englehart stories that delve into ethereal cosmic entities and the metaphysics of the Marvel universe have always been my favorite.

On a semi-related note, I always thought it would have been cool for them to cut up The Thanos Quest into 3 or 4 short films attached to each Avengers solo film (ala pixars shorts) or as after-credit tags that lead into Avengers 2 (or whichever film Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet is in). Except that that's not really feasible because the script for an Avengers movie isn't really locked when the solo films start filming (heck not even locked until Joss is done editing :P). They can't really afford to paint themselves into a corner again the way they did when Stark showed up in the after credits scene of the Hulk. And these shorts would probably create 100x less flexibility for future movies than that one scene.

Wouldn't have been a bad idea but i think to actually show thanos in his full glory; needs to be saved for a major event movie like avengers 2.

i still have some Ultraverse comics of Steve Engalhart and also some issues of the DC millenium crossover from the late 80's that he wrote.

Jim Starlin is just a brilliant man. Love his work.  Found this on wiki a while ago:

Starlin has admitted the character is influenced by Jack Kirby's Darkseid:

“ Kirby had done the New Gods, which I thought was terrific. He was over at DC at the time. I came up with some things that were inspired by that. You'd think that Thanos was inspired by Darkseid, but that was not the case when I showed up. In my first Thanos drawings, if he looked like anybody, it was Metron. I had all these different gods and things I wanted to do, which became Thanos and the Titans. Roy took one look at the guy in the Metron-like chair and said : "Beef him up! If you're going to steal one of the New Gods, at least rip off Darkseid, the really good one!"

    lol

  6. Living Tribunal FTW! One of the few beings arguably more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet. Too bad he's unlikely to make an appearance in the Marvel movieverse  :( .

yep, he is just below the One Above All i.e God.

I love Marvel cosmic universe. Its something that DC universe is weak in.

  7. Umm Mandarin was changed precisely because of China ... they are strict with the portrayal of Chinese and if he was this OTT offensive chinese villain they would ban the film

At World's End had to cut Chow Yun Fat's character cause of film's primitive portrayal of Chinese

btw its the least problem with the film

uneven pacing, plot holes and numerous other things are much more important

how about changing his clothes, video backgrounds and hell also the name? Because the name just doesnt make sense.

I agree its not the main problem, but its there and the more i think about it the more absurd it looks

  8. They need to get a life when they post ad nauseum about it. I've never seen something so little blown up so big on the fan sites the way they did. Some even went out of their way to spoil the movie because they were mad their shitty character wasnt trasnlated 100% to the comics never mind half the characters in the first movie weren't either.

The thing is If you are going to have someone called the Mandarin have him be Chinese or at the very least raised or influenced by something from China.

Fair enough for business and box-office purposes they changed his ethnicity. But where is the logic calling a man Mandarin who looks Indian  supporting terrorists groups in Afghanistan and so on, making videos with dragon statues and Chinese attire when there is not one mention of anything Chinese in the damn movie?!!!! Forget translating a character 100%, they only translated his name to the screen...

Im trying really hard to reconcile that plot hole but i can't seem to figure it out.

Also you would think Tony would have a sensor/radar system to detect helicopters coming and firing missiles.

Plus they kidnapped the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! Where the fuck is S.H.I.E.L.D???

I'm not a big Iron Man fan but i was really enjoying the first half of the movie. Feel disappointed that that momentum didn't carry it to the end.

If anyone has seen the China version, can you tell me if  the extra footage sorts this Mandarin plot hole out???

  9. Hello, it`s Halba. Someone has to hate on IM3 and

Yeah, especially with worse-than-the-first reviews it`s getting. With IM3, buzz is that it`s definitely better than second and many think it`s the best yet. OTOH, STiD reviews are unanimous in that it`s a decline from ST09.

i had high hopes for STID :( still confident it will satisfy me though but i dont think boxoffice will reflect it. Abit worried for its WW total.

  10. thats a bit too high. 440 DOM? most predictions were 350-375dom 1 month ago. the movie is out and its nothing spectacular.

    i don't think thor 2 looks like a blockbuster..

This isnt harry potter. I'm one of the guys who is usually cautious , but credit where credit is due.

Star Trek could hinder the legs abit but not by much

  11. After seeing IM3, no one wonders what if Bin Laden IS Bush's Mandarin ?

I think Shane Black satirized the wars against terrorism in IM3, sort of.

thats an interesting observation mate. Now that i think about it, your theory makes sense.

best thing you have said in months :P

  12. Just got back from watching it, and i have mixed feelings about this. I was thoroughly enjoying this movie. Thought it had a sound build up in the beginning.... UNTIL the twist. Now i have no problem with the mandarin being not the real mandarin. But it kinda hampered the rest of the movie. Sir Ben was doing a great job. He sounded and acted menacing. There was real hate in his words. Then you find out he is just Trevor. Guy pierce as good as he was, is no Mandarin.

People said this movie was really funny and they couldn't stop laughing....really? what part? There was only 2 occasions that i laughed out loud, and in one of those scenes i was the only one laughing in the auditorium.

Also why is the Mandarin called Mandarin if he is not Chinese and has no connection to China????

Tony Stark can't sleep since the Avengers but yet has no eye bags lol. Not really too much of an issue, but he seemed healthy looking so kinda made the insomniac part weird.

For people saying this is better than the Avengers. We have a saying here in the U.K....'You should have gone to Specsavers'.

    Action was decent, nothing wow.

Overall a good movie, but overrated IMO. Miles better than IM2 though.

    IM3- 7/10
