  1. You might want to share wga strike info since the question was about the wga.
  2. Like him or not (and I don't) he does have a following. Same with Randolph although I think hers has dropped off some?
  3. That Matt Ramos guy. Pretty much him. But it seems like he will be fine:
  4. It does not. This isn't aimed at writers. It's SAG. Its aimed at people with a million followers on Instagram who attend the red carpet premieres. Maybe it'll affect the cbm hype people.
  5. What a weird way to try to insulate some people from criticism. But business is a lot like football in one way: the past wins count for something but it's much more about what you have done LATELY.
  6. Remember also the WGA offered that clause as an easy gimme for the AMPTP. The WGA didn't actually think it was going to be an issue.
  7. Interesting. So let me get this straight. TB is only elite cause he had Randy Moss for a couple years and Gronk as his TE AND BB? 'Cause you know, TB didn't work hard to overcome his own limitations, learned the game better than anyone playing QB, and just didn't have the natural talent (he has a way better arm than Mac Jones). He got overlooked in the draft process but it was clear in 2001 that in training camp he was the better QB (but y'know, they were paying Bledsoe a lot). TB went to Tampa Bay and won a superbowl. Meanwhile BB can't even get DeAndre Hopkins to sign now and can't drag WRs worth shit. Interesting you wanna praise BB but sorry in the last few years, BB has been pretty bad outside defense: and despite those elite defenses, we've been struggling since you know, an offense that can't consistently score or come back from behind ain't gonna win in today's NFL. Hiring Matt Patricia/Joe Judge to run the offense was always going to end in disaster just like Iger's Disney+ project he saddled on to Chapek. Yeah, Iger bought Fox, Marvel, Lucas, Pixar. But he also has made critical mistakes including making Disney way too dependent on pre-existing IPs.
  8. Uh-huh. Look I'm a big Pats fan. But Belichik's record without Tom Brady is a lot less stellar as head coach. You think BB's gonna win a superbowl with Mac Jones? Hahaha. I fucking wish. No, really, I want another Superbowl win. I hate sucking. 😭
  9. Can't wait for the Napoleon vs Caesar movie with a surprise appearance by Hannibal and Sun Tzu
  10. Iger is not Bill Belichik. He's more Jeff Fischer. Sure he'd be very pursued by other media companies. He'll give you short term strength at the cost of long term health. Like most business executives.
  11. But if they don't have Leo going on Jimmy Fallon and being like "come see my new movie out THIS WEEK!" Cannes means nothing to the GA. MI7 trailer helps sure but like EVERY movie has a trailer and they play before big movies. It's not awareness that really matters here. All the movies being released by major studios will have some level of awareness unless they like dump it with little marketing. It's the reminder the movie is coming out that weekend. My dad was like "what movie are you seeing this week?" Told him Mission Impossible. His reply? "Oh, right. I forgot that movie existed. It's this weekend, huh?" And my dad has liked every single MI movie and wants to see this one.
  12. Fallout opened to $61 million domestically. Ended up with $220 million domestic, $571 international, $791 million worldwide. If Dead Recknoning has similar legs and similar performance... It will make a profit. Sure but like there's only so much pre-packaged promo material can do. Like, yeah those will help. But I think the box office is being hurt RIGHT NOW and that was with actors being able to do some promotion because so many of the traditional avenues of getting WOM out have been shut down. Like MI: Dead Recknoning Part One will be fine. It'll make back it's money more than likely and make a good profit for the studio. But I do think it was hurt by the lack of late night show promotion and such. Not convinced Killers of the Flower Moon or Napoleon will do well TBH. But we'll see. i do think "pricey star driven dramas" will definitely be hurt by the stars not promoting it though. Kinda hard to be driven by stars when the stars be on strike.
  13. Maybe but it would do better if Jason Statham could promote it. That's why he's the lead actor after all.
  14. I wonder at what point are studios going to realize that the WGA strike (and now SAG) is hurting all their box office runs. There's no boycott or anything but I think MI would have done better it's first week if you had Tom Cruise on late night shows reminding the GA about the movie. (I think Barbie/Oppenheimer will do well but other than that, is anyone gonna be confident for future summer releases? lol)
  15. Production budgets are reported on but they are usually guesses and I would take them with a grain of salt.
  16. I can't wait for stock holders to realize everything Bob Iger and executives do can be replaced by AI.
  17. Not close to impossible. Indie movies exist after all. But very difficult.
  18. Easier said than done. Ultimately the issue is always financing.
