Exactly! I can understand Ensemble for Star Wars. Daisey Ridley, John Boyega, Harrison Ford, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac all worked extremely well together and gave great performances that fit the movie. They created believable characters that worked together believably, had great chemistry, and each one got shout outs for being highlights. It's very much an ensemble film. The Martian has a great performance by Matt Damon and serviceable performances from the rest. The story itself doesn't even yield as an ensemble film. It's Damon's vehicle the whole way through. The highlights were the tight writing and a good performance by Damon. Spotlight, Hateful Eight, and Big Short are the three that really deserved it though. Those truly had great ensembles.
