  1. 91 Shrek The first best animated feature winner that many try to frame as overrated after the milked out franchise that this become, however that franchise only became what it was (including the making of Shrek 2 which is still the highest grossing domestic animated movie) because of how big of a breakout this movie actually was. It managed to increase (without the four day) on its second weekend and then continued on a fairly leggy run. Not only that it also played a large influence on the general audience's acceptance of non-Disney animations, even if its sequel may be more notable Shrek definitely has its place in importance.
  2. Paramount originally was working with MCU to build the Avengers universe, and then Disney bought out Marvel and got Iron Man and Avengers rights with it.
  3. I really dislike Fox as a company as a whole, Rupert Murdoch is one of the reasons people hate big business owners. I can't deny that I liked their movies this year, but the company annoys me.
  4. I think they're working for what they can, just individual characters that they need.
  5. I think the previews are just skewing things, you have to admit a lot of the would-be friday business was done of Thursday due to the early previews (7 pm). That leaves more potential for Saturday to increase from Friday without previews.
  6. I hope it does open to 96m, that'll make it the highest opening comic book movie of the year and position it well to win the summer if its legs are good enough.
  7. That gives it a higher chance of increasing without previews though, so maybe around 29-30m, So I could see 37.8 30 24.2m 92m
  8. Yes, Lucy and Hercules are predicted for 60%+ drops that bodes well for my club
  9. 92 Twilight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z62_AisNjyM As terrible a movie (and franchise) that Twilight was, there is no doubt it was a resounding success at the box office, but furthermore its influence is even more undeniable. While Twilight wasn't the first young adult series, it was the one to follow Harry Potter and officially make it an aim for studios to seek out what franchise might be the next Harry Potter or Twilight when they found out that sort of success is repeatable. Because of it we have gotten projects like The Hunger Games, Fifty Shades of Grey (not necessarily a success yet but it's bound to be), Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars and the many not so successful stories such as The Host, The Mortal Instruments, Vampire Academy, The Maze Runner, etc. While obviously it took a cumulative effort from Twilight, Harry Potter and the Hunger Games to ignite the YA genre , there's no doubt it had its place in the cause.

  11. An intellectual thriller than manages to have no brains nor excitement. Utterly boring tripe. D-
  12. Most likely if the 11.2m previews deflated the Friday then Saturday will increase from Friday without previews.
  13. I mean 96m is above all expectations for this, just a bit disappointing given those previews
  14. Yeah TMNT has all the little girls and their mothers screaming to see it xD
  15. 93 Platoon This is an R rated war (or anti) movie that managed to gobbled up 288m adjusted, however I am not just putting it on here because of how great it did at the Box Office or awards. This movie was a poignant take on the anti-war stance and with its sheer box office size it was able to make sure that it was a movie that the general audience wouldn't soon forget. This is an important movie on a political spectrum that also managed to make big blockbuster status.
  16. I just realized Guardians has the second highest midnight ever for a non-sequel/prequel.
  17. I'm going to avoid it, I get rather heated when discussing any Snyder movie.
  18. I'll take that bet, If Avatar doesn't beat Avengers 2 by at least 900m WW (or better let loses to the Avengers 2) then I will pick your signature, and you will also post (and have as a quote on your sig), "Avatar is the most overrated film of all time. Hail Whedon."
