  1. That was the best weekend of the year, only Interstellar and Big Hero 6's opening has a chance to pose as fun of a weekend.
  2. Depends on next weekends drop, it it drops similar to Cap 3 then 300m is in play because of Labor Day weekend and practically no more heavy competition.
  3. That was absolutely hilarious and fit the tone of the movie completely. So much of it was poking fun at the blockbuster cliches so that type of ending was only right. It was also unexpected and clever. Done wrong it could have been terrible, but it was definitely done right. And that's not because it's marvel because I had big complaints about a lot of Cap 2s over the topness not fitting the movie. I haven't liked all of MCU's movies because they're marvel, I don't read comics. I've liked them all because even their lesser ones have been entertaining enough to he worth the ticket price. They're an extremely safe bet to get your money worth from.
  4. True, but I believe Tangled is going to be seen as more and more important as Disney's new Renaissance continues. 75 Transformers In a summer of third installments from sequels all underperforming in quality and thus also in box office Transformers was a breakout that really was released at the right the time. Since then it has become a world wide phenomenon and the fourth installment of the franchise is going on to set the record in China while also having a Chinese gross higher than the domestic one. Transformers is the bay style action at its peak and it has truly left a remarkable impact on the modern box office and on the style of summer blockbusters attempting to appeal overseas.
  5. Tele's getting serious now, posts are disappearing.
  6. I really enjoy this movie, it gets a bit over the top at times, but it does portray glimpses of the corruption and bad state of living within the Indian slums. Not the greatest movie, but better than all of the others the Oscars nominated for BP that year. B+
  7. Yes, M:I was still a huuuuge hit ($333m adjusted - plus it was a success on home video afterward) but did it have a mini-"backlash"? Doesn't mean it wasn't important as a blockbuster. 76 Tangled A true return to form for WDAS and re-affirmed the general audiences faith in the Disney brand after over a decade of lackluster quality and box office performance. Sure, many will say Bolt was the true movie to bring the return to form being earlier, but it was Tangled that really brought back in the audience. Tangled re-instated the Disney brand as a must see for the audience and made the possibility of Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph's success possible as well all of the future successes that will end up following it. Another fun little tidbit is it started the trend of adjectives for names of Disney movies (such as Brave and Frozen) instead of names such as Rapunzel, The Snow Queen, or The Bear and the Bow.
  8. 77 The Hangover An absolute breakout of a comedy that grossed nearly unprecedented numbers for its genre. It created a franchise of successes (with Part 1 and Part 2) as well as inspiring more comedies to follow in its foot steps (such as Bridesmaids). It also widened the market to become more and more accepting of rated R comedies as large blockbusters with many rated R comedies getting over the 100m and even 150m mark within the last few years.
  9. Annie is looking more and more like a disappointment. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is going to bomb. Paddington is going to pull very mild numbers. That leaves a musical (Into the Woods), a comedy (The Interview), an Oscar contending drama (Unbroken), Family film (Night at the Museum 3), and an action fantasy (Hobbit 3), with Exodus being nearly month into its run. There's room for all of those movies to have some success, people complain about Christmas being to packed every year, but it's packed for a reason.
  10. In likelihood of nods so far 1.Interstellar 2.Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 3.Guardians of the Galaxy 4.The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies 5.Godzilla 6.Noah 7.Exodus: Gods and Kings 8.Edge of Tomorrow
  11. I'm going to wait for sunday for numbers, these projections are fairly large rangy.
  12. 78 Mission: Impossible A blockbuster that spawned a large franchise all because of the star power of Tom Cruise. Everything about it has now become iconic, and it is still holding its power to pull in an audience after Ghost Protocol. Although none of the other movies in the franchise have been able to reach the height of the first one, it doesn't make the entire franchise any less impressive for becoming a smaller version of 007.
  13. Why can't they give us friday numbers instead of weekend numbers, no point predicting the weekend yet....
  14. No, it'll make it impossible for rth to come in and give us numbers!
  15. All those posts put together and it makes it look like Rth is on the verge having a lesbian threesome instead of posting numbers.
  16. Also, there is absolutely nothing until the Maze Runner in September so Guardians will have small drops there as well (post labor day), it's set up to have some very impressive late legs.
  17. Assuming it gets it, which I hope it does and won't be to surprised if it does (considering its awesome WoM).
