  1. I'll admit, many of the characters in Hustle are over the top, but the dialogue flows spectacularly and is realistic, but that's more credit to the screenplay.Although, I don't see how CF was her strongest performance, I'd argue she was better in Winter's Bone than Catching Fire. But that says a lot given that she was great in CF.

  3. They are good, but again I don't see them on an overly high level.Plus, I am talking more recent Nolan as well (post Batman), as a director he has been on a slow downhill slide post-Dark knight (we'll see if Interstellar can break the trend and be Memento quality or if it will be more typical, safe, mainstream Nolan and be like Inception or TDKR)
  4. It was good but I still think she's better in Silver Linings Playbook and Hustle. David O Russel has done a great job recently at pulling out strong, realistic performances.I am thinking though Lawrence might get another nom next year if Selena actually comes out.
  5. Nolan's movies are technical works, they never really bring out more than just workable/decent performances.I haven't seen interstellar, but just from past experience with acting in Nolan movies id be willing to bet it gets no acting nominations in the 2015 oscars and no real love performance wise from critics awards either. The only truly great performance to come out of a Nolan movie was Heath Ledger, and he had the "benefit" oscar wise of being snubbed previously and the fact that he died (being honest here, that was what locked him for the Oscar).
  6. I'm really hoping Jonah Hill and DiCaprio get in, they deserve it and despite AH having crazy good acting they put them to shame.I won't count on either of them winning though, Wolf isn't academy friendly.
  7. I don't see it, it's being released earlier than Thor, that would require insane legs.
  8. Lupita definitely has the edge coming from the main front runner, a stronger performance, and most importantly she didn't just win an oscar the year before.I could see JLaw winning if there were no Lupita, but since she's locked to be there it's Nyong'o's to lose.
  9. I can't see Lawrece overtaking Nyong'o, it could happen, but I just can't see it.Nyong'o is probably the closest to lock out of the four acting categories.
  10. Jlaw in hunger games puts Amy Adams in man of steel to shame. And Jlaw was supporting and completely stole AH from Adams. (Their duo scene was controlled by Lawrence)As much as I liked American Hustle, Amy Adams and Christian Bale were both weak compared to Lawrence and Cooper (those two stole the show).
  11. I told you, word of mouth is strong with this film. (You can tell by the fact it's soundtrack is going to hit number one on billboards)As much as you hate to admit it but the general audience is in love with Frozen. (I'm seeing the twitter accounts everywhere)
  12. Frozen had the smallest drop, I'm hoping it can surprise tomorrow and have a large increase.
  13. Sad, because Wreck-It Ralph was the better movie and honestly if they had flip flopped release dates I think Wreck-It Ralph would have made more than Brave.
  14. Gravity was a much better movie than Avatar, I wish it had been the one to bust the record books, it was much more impressive in my opinion.
  15. It's kind of sad that a film I find highly overrated now is one that I have one of the most viewings of. (The majority of those were in the theater because I was one of those people going, "OMG THE 3D, IT'S SO REAL!!!!11! BEST MOVIE EVER1!!!!" Once my head got cleared I realized it was good and visually absolutely fantastic, but nowhere near what I had hyped it to be. That kind of shows, you really only need your movie to have an illusion of quality to break out with strong WoM.
  16. I remember going on opening day with a group of friends and we got there an hour early and still got stuck in the pit of our theater. I then went again with more friends the next day on Saturday, got there an hour and a half early and the same thing happened (and this was with a smaller group). The saturday viewing wasn't as pleasant as the Friday though because I got stuck on a row which was occupied by a very large family and a couple of babies and restless children. It smelled and the babies cried. Those were the only two times I ever remember getting stuck in the pit. EDIT: Wait, I did when I went to see the Lion King as well, but that's because I arrived way to late for a new movie that had just opened that day. EDIT AGAIN: Crap, that also brought the memory that I did get stuck in the pit on one of my Avatar viewings as well, but I didn't remember that much because I for some reason went to see Avatar 7 times in the theater... I can't even watch Avatar anymore because I have seen it to much.
  17. Ooh I saw a funny one, "The Avengers is not the type of monster the Chinese like, it probably won't make the top 10 in China." A lot of these quotes are entertaining, however I understand where they are coming from given their place in time.
  18. I'm reading through the old Avengers over 350m club and it's quite entertaining to see all the predictions, and the only person early on guessing accurate numbers was the extreme marvel fanboy dissing anything DC, WB, or TDKR.
  19. I haven't set a solid deadline yet but I'll say the deadline is Friday the 17th (I'd do the 10th but I'm super busy that weekend and wouldn't be able to get results in) and post the results throughout Saturday and Sunday of that week. It's a little long but the deadline just works for my personal schedule.
  20. Wow, the ONLY 2013 movie I went to see more than once in theaters was Gravity, that's a first, I will usually see a few. I got a second viewing of This is the End as well. I also plan on seeing Inside Llewyn Davis again when it expands, I'll definitely see Gravity again on Blu-Ray, if I can bring myself to it I will watch 12 Years a Slave again (I don't know if I can bear Fruitvale again though). It also depends on what else gets a nomination, I usually try to see all the Oscar nominees after they get nominated (and if I already saw them then I will get a second viewing in). Although if I count earlier this year I saw Life of Pi three times in theaters (two in 2012, once in 2013) and once at home, and I saw Les Miserables twice in theaters and once at home. I also saw Silver Linings Playbook 3 times (all of which were this year), and I saw Django Unchained twice.
