  1. Looks like we really might have to brace ourselves for a November move.

First let slip in an interview by a major Dutch cinema owner...

along with this...apparently the product placement partners (Omega etc) are prepping for a fall launch

  2. In terms of the UK - we're looking at hopefully everyone over 50 and underlying conditions vaccinated by the time this comes out...unlike last April and November cinemas are actually probably gonna be open this time around. It's in the Tenet position at the moment of first big film after this lockdown that's starting today, and I'd imagine restrictions will be identical to August, but it should be in theory easy to beat it because 1. Bond and 2. vaccine giving a confidence boost to the public.

Question is, do MGM/Eon/Universal just go ahead with that, or keep waiting until the whole world is ready...

Pay per view on SKY TV.

There is deal to show it on SKY Cinema in January. Hopefully, they pull it forward like they did in Canada.

@Avatree Not confirmed that's exactly what it will be but yeah, one month window until home release in January is what was reported, no day and date. I'd imagine they absolutely have to convince the chains of just say fuck it and bring it forward to Xmas day.

I can't see it being a Pay Per View exclusive to Sky. It'll be either exclusive and free for Sky Cinema subscribers OR they do PVOD on all platforms.

HBO Max won’t come to Australia for around 5 years. All HBO content is on FOXTEL here.

And everyone needs to remember that sorting out HBO MAX in country X is only half the battle. (And hell will it matter anyway as they can always go PVOD or already have partners like Foxtel whom they can take the films to if they want SVOD)

They need to actually convince (or have the balls to do what they did last night in the US) the chains to go along with this.

In the UK, they seemingly managed to negotiate a shortening of the window to 1 month as a "COVID Emergency Window" for WW84...

They screwed up the roll out for hbomax so that’s not an option. What they should of done is offer a theatrical release / pvod option simultaneously everywhere it’s available and that would get as many eyes on it as possible and give people options. So that’s on them now if people pirate it, I don’t agree with that and never would but they’re  making it hard for people who don’t want to get spoiled.

the problem is, getting the chains to go along with it. Skipping theatrical entirely with this, like with Mulan, I think that's something they would avoid. They got super lucky they managed to convince AMC etc. to allow the day and date release Stateside, and now Odeon and Vue in UK to have the one-month window.

UK chains have agreed to "COVID Emergency Window" of one month:

    Quote

“What we’re doing on the basis of trying to help out the studios and our partners is to look at an emergency COVID window which is just the maximum amount of flexibility to get movies onto screens,” says a senior source close to U.K. discussions, who assures the “Wonder Woman 1984” scenario “isn’t setting up a precedent for the future, but acknowledging that we’re finding ways of working together.”

    Of the 3 big chains.....

Looks like Odeon and Vue are opening up in Tier 1 and 2 areas to show wonder Woman.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a32576843/when-will-cinemas-reopen-vue-odeon-cineworld/

Cineworld has yet to make a decision, which is shame because they are our only choice locally.

The CEO said they won't open for WW84 alone, not really expecting reopening until the spring, so count that out.

  8. Variety seems to suggest here what’s on the cards as a PVOD rental through Sky Store but I honestly highly doubt that’s what’s happening here - all of WB’s previous PVOD drops have been on all platforms. If they’re doing an exclusive with Sky, it’s as part of the subscription, no additional charge. In any case, the big story is Odeon/Vue agreeing to shorten the window here from 16 weeks to 1 month.

European/northern hemisphere markets are in a bad spot, because its winter.

Some international markets are in OKish shape.

BTW, here in the UK, vaccines are being rolled out starting next week.

yup, though not gonna have a larger effect on the situation and getting back to 'normal' until April really, when is when the over-50s are expected to be vaccinated. Priority for this month is gonna be key workers/NHS and the oldest/most vulnerable in hospitals and care homes.

Kinda poor quality for a VOD release though (one of things keeping me from watching it). Looked like 720p based on some of the screenshots/clips I got a glance at on twitter. Doesn't seem to open up for IMAX sequences either.

I believe what's out there is 1080p, yeah. But no 5.1 audio and indeed no IMAX - though the regular digital release won't have it either, only the Blu.

How are HD torrents already out? Movie isn't even out on home video. Almost got spoiled due to a bunch of people posting screenshots on my twitter feed. So tempting to watch the movie rn too, but I keep telling myself I gotta wait for just two more weeks. Also started my Nolan marathon. Hoping to get to TDKR by Thursday and then Dunkirk next week.

out on a foreign VOD somewhere it seems
