Universal really put themselves in a corner.  I wonder if their revenue sharing agreement with AMC applies to PVOD on Peacock or just standalone On-Demand.

I think standalone. There's no PVOD provision on Peacock - or any other streaming services aside from D+ - I believe.

  2. Given they're closer to the Tenet-scale of spending and committing to the November date in marketing, I wonder if Tenet-esque incremental delays may be on the table. Not to mention PVOD. They literally had tons of materials printed and marketing spend committed specifically with the November messaging as opposed to WB-style 'only in theaters'

I dont' why the hell Warners is dragging it's feet on drive ins. Thye can use all the screens they can get.

I have not seen the movie..theaters still shut tight where I am....but without making any comments on it as a movie, I thinkit's clear the US release strategy is a failure.

The entire release has been positioned as a solidarity thing for indoor theaters and giving driveins weeks if not month's worth of head start would defeat that.

Still stupid given it is a safer way to see a film and will likely help boost things (for WB).

  4. Missed this, interesting how this was 'announced' now though they aren't allowed to.

this whole deal could work in a potentially interesting way for platform releases. Major chain exclusivity with AMC (since Regal/Cineworld and others aren't on board ATM) could work as a limited release platform in its own right. So if it performs well in the initial two weeks and Universal/Focus don't take the option to PVOD? Expand to the other major chains - Regal, Cinemark etc.

Also UK theatrical date is October 9 (following the London Film Fest *online* screening October 7). Wonder what the PVOD plans here will be.

  5. 5 more drive-in venues have been announced to show the film in the UK:

Nightflix Drive-In Cinema    Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire    09/09 - 24/09    DCP
