Robocop ran away from Viy and Wolf on Feb. 13
-
It seems like Viy* may get majority of IMAX shows, despite it being non-IMAX movie, lol, IMAX and it's true colors, never gets old, 1 show per day for Gravity and Frank.
Yep, they are showing non-IMAX Viy* in IMAX nationwide, lol, it's that easy.
Frozen still in the top 10 and showing some relatively strong late legs. That's great for a market like Russia!
It is amazing, Frozen is the second Avatar, here, DOM and WW.
Sonic, change the title already
-
IMAX 3D then, they wanna get as much money as they can easiest way possible, meh.
It's gonna have only one full screen IMAX week in Russia, because of the First Avenger on its second week taking majority of shows, kinda stupid, since before there is only "300" in IMAX for 3 weeks, they should move release date to at least March 22 here.
$20m+ in Russia, if RUB will stay below 35.
~300m OS

At my favourite local theater Wolf got 2 shows on biggest screen in town(22,4m wide) + plus 2 shows in single screen(~20m wide) theater, that's big, and overall Wolf should have almost at much shows as Viy* on its 2nd weekend.

Early trends for the next weekend:
It seems like Viy* may get majority of IMAX shows, despite it being non-IMAX movie, lol, IMAX and it's true colors, never gets old, 1 show per day for Gravity and Frank.
Wolf has got 4 full screens in some theaters, but only 4 shows per day on each one due to 3 hr runtime, definetely can see $1m OD though, and oldest predictions are still valid, actually even more than back then, piracy gives a positive effect.

Hobbit 3 is probably the only one which could reach $50m
No.
^ TF will do it imo
No.
With ~40 RUB for USD nobody is likely to reach even $45m, but looking at the calendar and history, i'd say HTTYD 2 has the best shot, the only missing thing to be completely secure about it is an IMAX...

Wow,boring in this moment
Viy* is headed to $25m+, Champions still might gross $8m.
Considering exchange rates^, from now on, it'll "boring" all the time, no movie over $50m this year is likely.

Ex. Rate for 28.01 - 34,71, for 29.01 - 34,625, situation is serious, some experts say it may hit historic maximum, 36,5, this spring, and be over 40 by the end of the year, and that's a conservative view, i hope it doesn't come to that, but $40m- for third Hobbit might be real.
BTW, Viy got 35%+ of all showings next week, 5 full screens in some multiplexes, and Gravity is back in IMAX for 2 showings a day(no hope for $22m cume, though).

Frozen legs have been out of this world.
Actually, Saturday might be over $150k, but i'm not sure, don't want to overestimate.
How long will it continue to play in Russia? Weekend drop seems small.
1 more week(~$200k), then there is big local animated movie coming out, there is animation next week too, Ritter Rost — Eisenhart & voll verbeult, but i don't think it's worth mentioning.

Since ekinobilet is suddenly so off, i add on ~60% to their numbers(~140% for "ILD" , i guess ekinobilet doesn't track most of it ~200 screens, same with Frozen and most of the holdovers, it seems), instead of the usual ~40%, i hope i'm not over

Is Frozen done?
Pretty much, $8k+ Thursday, there is a chance of ~$150k weekend though, thx to huge increases on Sat and Sun, we'll see.
Frozen already did amazing job, survived through all the competitors.
Thursday
1. I, Frankenstein 1,022,423
Sadly, $12m+ for I, Frankenstein is now locked Hope for huuuuuge drops
-
I guess piracy(even hi-def Blu-ray one) really doesn't mean a thing when it comes to BO, looking at the Grandpa result here, and, of cource, DM2 gross in China, no worry for "Wolf"(#1 on torrents for more than 2 weeks already) and other leaked movies then.
Btw, Viy* has got more shows than Hobbit on OW at my local theater, ~$15m OW is quite likely.., especially since Champions are doing so bad.

Another hard-to-predict weekend, so i'm quite conservative after last one.

1 USD = 33,43 RUB (33,82 for 22.01, this is nuts)
Land of the Bears; ~300; 0,5m+
Should have passed $0,5m by now, not so bad for documentary.
-
Jack Ryan already passed 2.1m with some theaters still to report.
Why, why, why it's so undertracked by ekinobilet? It's an IMAX movie, but even +40% from the original number is still very far away from rentrak, while for some movies +35% is already over actuals, they should cover more than 70% on first day now.
-
Openers Sunday(ekinobilet):
1) Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - $568k+
2) Grudge Match- $448k+
3) The Book Thief - $167k+
4) Best Night Ever - $68k+
5) The Colony - $53,5k+
6) All Is Lost - $26k+
$420k+ for 47 Ronin, $292k+ for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, $254k+ for PA:TMA, $258k+ for Frozen(!!!), $166k+ for Hobbit:DOS.
1 USD = 33,43(!) RUB
Ex. Rate for 21.01 - 1 USD = 33,64(!?) RUB, this is the end
Frozen is showing some astonishing results.
JR only had $2m OW ...
Must be less than $1,9m, actually.

What is the best big movie? 300? Lego?
You mean the next big movie? Local ones:
situation will improve next weekend with Champions* or weekend after that with Viy*.
Looking like at least $15m+ for the first and $25m+ for the second.
From foreign movies, Robocop(Feb. 13) has a shot at $15m+, as well is Pompeii 3D(Feb. 20), but i doubt it.
First foreign movie with $15m+ locked should be 300, higher quality compare to previous two(probably), good date, and 3 weeks of IMAX.

Another mediocre BD release from WB, 16 fucking GB(movie and original audio), clap-clap.
