14M yes there is a chance but 15M seems unlikely
I'm no expert on french box office but 14m seems pretty much locked.

Wrong. Unless you think the first one as well was an absolute underperformer domestically.
Well, yes and no. The original had much better exchange rates. A2 has beat all time records in local currency in quite a number of markets because tickets are expensive. Not so much in the USA...

I think James Cameron lost his power of making audience burst into tears in Avatar 2
Jake Sully’s son dead in Avatar :The Way of Water make me no crying and not even drop a single tear, but when I saw Arnold dead in Terminator 2,and Jack dead in Titanic,I really sad and depression for a real long time…I remeber when I first saw Titanic as a kid ,I even want Titanic become a sci-fi movie and let Jack back to life in Titanic 2:The Return of Jack….That’s the fool thinking in my childhood but that’s speaking cameron’s power of emotion buliding…but I saw his power lost in Avatar 2
If Jake Sully really dead in Avatar 3,I really hope he can do same thing like he used to do…
I shed a tear (on my 2nd watch) as did many others based on accounts. No, it's no Titanic but Cameron still has the power.

Dune seems to have done very well on home video / streaming. Hopefully that translates to a healthy boost for the sequel so that Villeneuve / studio might be persuaded to continue the franchise.

Kind of sad that that huge covid wave hit China right when A2 openend. Otherwise it would have had a legitimate chance of beating Endgame. Imagine A1 first and A2 in second place....

very strange to call Jim out for this, he's a saint compared to the rest of the movie industry honestly.
Dunno about saint but in interviews he usually comes off as the opposite of an egotist, pointing out the team aspect of moviemaking. As for greedy, again, can't think of anything that would point towards him deviating from the norm. What CAN be said is that he used to be a little hot tempered on sets.

A2 vs NWH comparison in post-holiday period so far -
Weekends:
4th weekend: A2 was 40% higher than NWH
5th weekend: A2 was 61% higher than NWH
6th weekend: A2 was 44% higher than NWH
I considered 4-day weekend for 5th weekend (MLK weekend )
Weekdays:
4th week: A2 was 48% higher than NWH
5th week: A2 was 53% higher than NWH
6th week: A2 is 62% higher than NWH (only Monday)
Atleast so far, A2 has been consistently outperforming by atleast 40% in every weekend, weekdays in the post-holidays period. NWH did $80M+ from here on for rest of the run.
True but for the next 8(!) weeks NWH is not dropping more than 22%, a streak A2 probably won't match due to competition and loss of PLFs.

Was expecting a tad bigger SAT increase. With actuals it might still barely cross $20m but for anyone hoping for $700m DOM, unless it drops less than 20% next week i guess that milestone is pretty much dead. More like $675m.

The movie is going to finish with $2.2B+, top 3 or 4 all time worldwide and people still care about its drop per day.
True but some of us still might wanna know if it can cross the $700m DOM milestone.

To be fair, their posts were just a couple minutes after your warning, maybe they haven't see it.

Unless it has very soft drops Wednesday and Thursday, it would need like a 160% jump on Friday and 110% jump on Saturday to get to $22m. I was trying to be realistic!
Those jumps are pretty realistic.

Off of that Tuesday, and the good Fri/Sat jumps Ava2ar's been having, I think we're realistically looking at a $17-19m 6th weekend. Could challenge Black Panther's 6th weekend for 6th place. But don't quote me on that.
20 - 22 m

Well even china doing $3m working day now,DOM can’t even do $2m?
You misunderstood, TUE will be much higher than $2m, around $3m.
As for China, it's boosted by holidays.

Pretty much nailed the SAT and SUN percentage changes, if only FRI was half a million higher...

Without China no future MCU film will ever top Titanic.
Phase 21 of the MCU in 2060 might do it because inflation.

No, because it will be falling from a holiday Sunday that won’t repeat, so ~5% worse than Tue for the w/e, unless Wed & Thur show something different (smaller drops). This Tue also possibly a tad inflated from holiday spillover with a few more people off than usual
I believe FRI and SAT jumps will be even bigger than last week's which will make up for the SUN drop. Plus THU might drop a tad less.
