French OD is bad. 95 809 (inc 27 306 preview) so 68 503 adm Wednesday
To compare :
TF1: 259 387 adm
TF2: 261 065 admTF3: 337 853 adm
TF4: 275 776 adm
TF5: 274 792 adm (30 374 preview)
Bumblebee : 109 490 adm (inc 14 645 previews)
Not sure to pass 1 mill to be honest (as it's gonna open with 370/420k)

And btw, really want to see it again (I rarely see movie twice in theaters, the exception since Covid being EEAAO that I've seen three times). So this may be great for box office

I thought the first one was great but not as fantastic as some keep saying (like a A- (3,5/5) I guess)
But damn, this one...
So great that when the credits rolled, I thought it was a joke because I didn't see the 2 hours 20 minutes go by. I had completly lost track of time. Really well written, still visually impressive and so creative.
So only bad thing with it it is the fact it really is half of the story. Much more than it was for AIW tbh, made me think of POTC or Matrix 2/3 much more in this regards.
BRILLIANT!
A+ (4,5/5)

I’m not expecting any 500M grosser for summer but i’m considering 3 potential +400M grossers
Spidey can get there, Indy can get there and Barbie can get there
Of course it depends of many factors, but if everything goes right, i can see it happening
Highly doubt any of these get there.
Spidey is ~250m
Indy around that aswell I think with a shot to 300 if really good.
Barbie is a big ? for me but atm I don't see it above 150m.

Think it was good. Maybe a bit over-the-top at some points where I thought we we can see the limits of the concept of the meta-horror-movie-genre. The city is not a gimmick at all and a nice element and there is some really good nail bitting moments.
I still have a problem with Melissa Barrera's acting I must say I don't know why. All the rest of the cast is really good (Ortega is indeed above the rest)
Some twists work very well (some just don't, the killer reveal is a tad disappointing event if it has good build up if that makes sense).
Didn't know the opening and thought it was a clever way to start it !
I'd say a 3/5
and something like
Scream 1 (5*)
Scream 4 (4*)
Scream 2 (4*)
Scream VI (3*)
Scream 5 (3*)Scream 3 (1,5*)

wait what ?
(and I very much like Top Gun and Avatar btw)

So happy for Everything Everwhere... myfavorite of last year. Very happy to see Hsu nominated.

No Way Home did $70m with 7,3millions admissions (so 9.59 ATP)
but I think Avatar is getting more 4DX/3D/HFR/etc. seances so with the same admissions it would be closer to $80/85m

Only 230k admissions in France (NWH had more than doubled with 479k admits. Apparently according to some sources Disney France would be very disappointed with this figure given the enormous costs and marketing.
Yesterday I was talking to you about 8M but apparently now Disney is hoping for even less and is aiming for 7 million admissions (it would be barely better than TGM and worse than NWH). If even Disney isn't positive it doesn't smell good ...
Just to had some context : yesterday was France's Semi-Final in the World Cup.
20,6 millions viewers (probably closer to 22 millions when including the private cable channel also broadcasting it).
Biggest number since 2006. One of the top 5 most-watched program of all time in France. It oc had a HUGE impact.
And with 7 millions + inflation + rise of premium cinema I think it is at least doing 75% of OG number. It's really good in France I think.

Seen it today and it is dizzyingly masterful. A disillusioned fable about the death of the American dream that is ultra well directed, and crafted and whose cinematography will bring tears to your eyes.
9/10

I have to say, it's... quite something.
Each actor seems to have had different instructions about the genre of the film. I think the movie is really not to be seen too seriously and that it is a real "camp" movie but not sure that the general public can appreciate that (especially over 2H40).
I was really surprised by Gaga's performance, she reveals a comic power that is quite effective. I almost want to see her in a pure comedy.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Aproximately 380k admissions Yesterday in France. It is really underwhelming.
French Opening Day:
TFA: 619 020
TLJ: 503 727
TROS: 380 000 (-25% / TLJ -39%/TFA)
Worst OD for the franchise since SW6 in 1983.

How much do you think the strikes may affect things?
Hard to say...
It didn't really impact last week's releases but those were much tinier movies...
Looking to the peripheric numbers I added to my previous post, it seems the strikes did affect the movie since those numbers are slightly better !

Paris 14H numbers :
-18% comp. The Last Jedi
-33% comp. The Force Awakens
Paris Peripherie :
TFA: 36 360 (73 theaters)
TLJ: 29 063 (83 theaters)
TROS: 25 621 (114 / -29.5% / -12%)
Important to note that Paris subway system is still exposed to important strikes that lead 10 metro lines to not working.

Removed the films @Bastien said he hasn't worked on. Also did some reshuffling - moved Skeleton Crew up to April 13th since there's been nothing said about Black Friday (I'll move it back if you finish that though, @Rorschach), and switched the dates for Samurai Pizza Cats and Ta2ed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills.
I won't be able to post a thing . Will def try to do better in Year 3 :/
-
I won't be able to post anything I think. My life as been a mess recently so I didn't really work on anything except for Oscar Pill and BGE a bit.. Maybe I will post these one.. I will see.

But it is down 20% from TFA and TLJ will be much more frontloaded, 1B WW in danger
Fun fact, I think it could be less frontloaded in France than TFA because TLJ's first week has 0 days of vacation whereas TFA had 2

Best opening numbers of the year.

20% drop for first seances in France. Seems pretty solid to me.

Don't worry that's definitely happening, we're just deciding on the 1st or the 8th.
@Bastien @Electric @YourMother @4815162342
Does anyone need until January 8th, or are we good to set it for the minute before midnight, EST, on New Year's Day?
I had a difficult couple of weeks recently..
I think it's gonna be more calm now. I will try to do my best. My vacations are ending on Jan 8th so it would be perfect for me. But I guess Jan 1st would be good too.
