I don't buy that Julia Roberts story. There's a reason they didn't name the exec. I bet he doesn't exist. It's just perfect fodder to get a rise out of SJWs on Twitter.
The lead girl in KO is really great but the rest of the cast feels wasted. They're barely in it. You can definitely tell they managed to get that cast because it was a week's work for each, if that.
I liked Little Women. A little sappy but it's a huge crowd pleaser.
Knives Out on the other hand I found slightly underwhelming after all the raves. But audience dug it. Should be a nice-sized hit, but not a smash.
FvsF is generic but entertaining. No edge. It's a movie your teacher shows you in history class on the Friday before a long weekend.
Waves on the other hand is exhilarating filmmaking...until it peters out toward the end. A shame because that first half is really something.
Marriage Story is very good. ScarJo has never been better. Driver is like shatteringly good. But the funniest bit was the audience gasping and clapping when Laura Dern first appears onscreen. When did she become THAT BITCH who makes people cheer when she appears onscreen?
Film Twitter must be so conflicted, having to hate ScarJo while she delivers strong performances in 2 of the year's must buzzed about Oscar contenders.
Parasite has to be the most overrated movie of the year lol. But I can't complain about an original, non-Marvel, non-Disney movie slaying. I'll shut up and take what I can get.
Parasite's plot twists in the third act are ridiculous, though. If it were a Hollywood movie it would get called out. But foreign films get away with it.
