  1. Perhaps slightly. Pixar tends to be a bit frontloaded. Their past several June releases (dating back to WALL-E) have probably made about the same on Saturday as their Friday without preview/midnight number. So if IO is looking at a 36m Friday, it's probably in line for a 32-33m Saturday.
  2. If Inside Out manages to take first this weekend, that would put Jurassic World in a very strange place. To date, the highest grossing film to only win a single weekend is the final Harry Potter, which did set a weekend record, but then fell to second beneath Captain America's opening. JW could do the same thing, except it's heading for unparalleled box office heights. It'd be kinda weird. (#2 on the list is the original Transformers, due to it releasing at 8pm on a Monday.)
  3. Generally the "not ever #1" only applies to weekends. Even MBFGW managed to take #1 for several days in its run. In fact it was first 9 times from Sept 2 to Sept 12, 2002.
  4. Well, Disney needed something to do far better than expected if they want to stay in contention for the year. IO may be it.
  5. Not just as involved, no. He's directing one so he's going to be hands-on. But for the others, he's still a major part of Pixar's brain trust (actually, since Stanton went off to do JC, Bird to do MI and Tomorrowland, and Lasseter got promoted to Disney's CCO, he might be the most central member of the trust). He's going to have input into everything Pixar does.
  6. The requirements listed for jobs are often their dream of what they'd like. If you think you can do it, it doesn't hurt to submit an application just to see.
  7. Pixar is in Emeryville. It's in the Bay Area, across the bay from San Francisco, more or less. Yes, the job is open. If you go to the BOM thread in the Speakeasy forum, there's a link to the job posting.
  8. I don't see how. I mean it's an apples and oranges comparison because Thankgsiving weekend doesn't behave like any other except possibly Easter. But your statement was that the jump was less impressive because kids were in school on Thursday. Kids weren't in school, though, so if the jump is less impressive, it's got to be for some other reason.
  9. DM2 had 4.6m previews and a 143m 5 day. TS3 had 4m previews and a 110m OW. How big is IO going to be?
  10. Are TS3 and DM2 the top two for animated films? 4 and 4.6?
  11. If it's close to TA1's second weekend then it's probably going to gross more, simply because the weekdays are stronger.
  12. It'd be the first sequel to achieve the title, unless something before Jaws had it. (Godfather part 2, perhaps?)
