  1. I consider re-releases sometimes in later weekends... like when a movie gets put into the dollar theaters after a month or so, it gets a boost. Usually not a big difference in the long run but it is something. And I promise I didn't intentionally make any movie flop or succeed. I took the projections from the Part 2 and made a range based on those and rolled virtual D20s.
  2. I'm pretty sure it'll be #1 for the first couple of weeks in Jan, depending on how terrible the movies of Year 6 are
  3. I haven't done any January calculations yet but I can soon or Impact/someone else can do that if they'd prefer.
  4. I'd like to preemptively strike and Big Bang Theory.
  5. January 8 - Homestar Runner (Choose Your Own Adventure!)
  6. I'm probably going to put out one more WoW movie, though I know others are itching to get out better-quality Warcraft (not World Of) movies.
  7. 8. And with a long delay!December 3-5With Thanksgiving all up ons us, the movies are showing plenty of life. Worlds Apart managed to fend off Ratchet & Clank, while overall the films held well, with Empty Hearth having a good final expansion. Claustrophobia still could not crack the Top 10, but it broke a million in its weekend box office. 1. Worlds Apart: 24,863,103 (3rd week)2. Ratchet & Clank: 22,532,007 (2nd week)3. Dragon Age 2: 10,208,593 (5h week)4. Celia - A Slave: 9,887,718 (3rd week)5. Random Acts of Kindness: 8,820,445 (2nd week)6. Empty Hearth: 6,678,115 (7th week)7. Elizabeth and Burton: 4,517,228 (1st week)8. Catharsis -- 4,298,105 (5th week - Final Wide)9. Santa Claus: Ultimate Badass: 3,003,487 (4th week)10. There’s a crowd of movie seeking 10th place again as well. Drops are kinder than they were the week after Thanksgiving, as Celia keeps going on. Minority opens well, especially for a “political” “comedy” when compared to real life versions of such movies, such as Swing Vote or Man of the Year. But it’s certainly no The Campaign, either.1. The Affair: 24,709,853 (1st week)2. Minority: 17,048,221 (1st week)3. Worlds Apart: 13,485,747 (4th week)4. Ratchet & Clank: 12,852,257 (3rd week)5. Celia - A Slave: 6,136,318 (4th week)6. Crack! Boom! Both Spellforce and Dawn of Oblivion managed to work at the Box Office, though Spellforce won the weekend quite easily. Worlds Apart has a big drop after having to deal with completion from the two new films. While at the bototm end, Claustrophobia still cannot hit the Top 10 with its release pattern.1. Spellforce: 90,758,139 (1st week)2. Dawn of Oblivion: 69,391,442 (1st week)3. The Affair: 13,847,402 (2nd week)4. Minority: 8,442,279 (2nd week)5. Ratchet & Clank: 6,555,936 (4th week)6. Worlds Apart: 5,665,362 (5th week)7. Celia - A Slave: 3,670,745 (5th week)8. Eccentric Minds: 3,306,145 (4th week - First Wide)9. Empty Hearth: 3,091,406 (9th week)10. Friday numbers were weak, which concerned some, but Saturday and Sunday abated said concerns, and the weekdays act almost as weekends at this point. Claustrophobia finally manages to get on the Top 10 list. *Eccentric Minds was release in its wide form on Wed Dec 22, but these numbers are only for Fri-Sun.1. Spellforce: 49,236,290(2nd week)2. Dawn of Oblivion: 43,869,271 (2nd week)3. Once & Future King: 43,686,112 (1st week)4. The Affair: 7,401,436 (3rd week)5. Corso - 6,235,814 (4th week - Wide)6. Eccentric Minds*: 5,781,452 (5th week - Final Wide)7. Minority: 4,316,657 (3rd week)8. Ratchet & Clank: 3,557,906 (5th week)9. Claustrophobia -- 3,022,197 (8th week - Third Wide)10. Worlds Apart: 2,924,459 (6th week)Edward Tulane: 1,592,445 (2nd week -First Wide)December 31 - Jan 2:Third time’s the charm. Spellforce wins another weekend, and Dawn of Oblivion holds on for second place. With no new movies being released on New Year’s Eve, the holdovers held on to keep a lot of their box office from the prior weekend. In a strange change of fate, Claustrophobia went up 5 spots on this weekend. 1. Spellforce: 32,195,611 (3rd week)2. Dawn of Oblivion: 31,199,825 (3rd week)3. Once & Future King: 27,124,707 (1st week)4. Claustrophobia -- 4,586,331 (9th week - Final Wide)5. The Affair: 4,393,492 (4th week)6. Corso - 4,138,556(5th week)7. 9. As for December... it won't be immediately.
  10. Nov 5-7:The slump is over. Dragon Age takes the castle… the dragon castle, by storm! Easily dominating the Box Office at a level reminding us of the summer. The limited releases do well in their few theaters, but none of them are in enough theaters to come close to the top 10, yet. Most of the films have steep drops… especially Vast Dark 4.1. Dragon Age 2: 83,341,598 (1st week)2. Dogs of Babel 15,589,875 (2nd week)3. Vast Dark 4: 10,897,651 (2nd week)4. Fright Town 2: 6,888,086 (3rd week)5. Empty Hearth: 6,673,528 (3rd week -First Wide)6. Empty Hearth is already up in 4th place despite being in about a third of the theaters of the big guys.1. Dragon Age 2: 47,179,678 (2nd week)2. Santa Claus: Ultimate Badass: 22,339,427 (1st week)3. But the real story here is Worlds Apart, getting past all except for the most optimistic expectations to snatch up an easy first place. Celia - A Slave did better than expected as well.1. Worlds Apart: 83,422,198 (1st week)2. Dragon Age 2: 26,925,443 (3rd week)3. Celia - A Slave: 25,349,466 (1st week)4. Santa Claus: Ultimate Badass: 10,635,801 (2nd week)5. Worlds Apart managed to fend off Ratchet & Clank, while overall the films held well, with Empty Hearth having a good final expansion. Claustrophobia still could not crack the Top 10, but it broke a million in its weekend box office.1. Worlds Apart: 55,734,370/75,198,221 (2nd week)2. 11. Kevin Smith... the guy who made all those Clerks movies? All 2?
  12. Not even close. Lion King did almost $1.6 million in 2 theaters in 1994
  13. Oct 1-3:Ben Stiller is back in form with this goofy comedy, as Monster Mash puts out the first 40 million opener since Giant Spiders… and the first 40 million opener that was screened for critics since Plastic-Man. Halloweentown II does similar business to the first Halloweentown, and Past Tense has a soft drop due to great word of mouth.1. Monster Mash: 40,742,481 (1st week)2. Halloweentown II: 28,897,349 (1st week)3. Past Tense: 14,645,693 (2nd week)4. Some Assembly Required: 10,100,591 (2nd week)5. Penny Press: 5,752,083 (3rd week)6. The Fall: 4,355,464 (3rd week)7. Khanh Bernarda Alba: 3,781,903 (3rd week - Widest)8. Action Movie: 3,226,273 (4th week)9. Time Lapse: 2,170,149 (5th week)10. Slender Man: 1,091,102 (5th week)Oct 8-10:The Fault in Our Stars couldn’t quite topple Monster Mash, and Our Beloved Savior couldn’t Sacha Baron Cohen its way past Halloweentown II, as the holdovers win the weekend. 1. Monster Mash: 23,667,307 (2nd week)2. The Fault in Our Stars: 23,452,683 (1st week)3. Halloweentown II: 17,919,246 (2nd week)4. Our Beloved Savior: 17,236,198 (1st week)5. Past Tense: 8,473,998 (3rd week)6. Some Assembly Required: 5,718,929 (3rd week)7. Penny Press: 3,280,413 (4th week)8. The Fall: 2,352,822 (4th week)9. Khanh Bernarda Alba: 2,204,553 (4th week)10. Action Movie: 1,581,197 (5th week)Oct 15-17:The cars zoom past everyone, as Cruisers - Second Gear more than doubles Monster Mash’s solid hold. Without anything else opening against it, it was pretty obvious that Crusiers would win this weekend quite easily.1. Cruisers - Second Gear: 29,097,424 (1st week)2. Monster Mash: 14,245,352 (3rd week)3. The Fault in Our Stars: 11,777,937 (2nd week)4. Halloweentown II: 11,185,193 (3rd week)5. Our Beloved Savior: 8,419,883 (2nd week)6. The Fall: 1,179,469 (5th week)Oct 22-24:Fright Town scared enough money out of people… basically matching Cruisers opening weekend from a week ago. Empty Hearth puts up big numbers in its limited LA/NY release as people look forward to Oscar season.1. Fright Town 2: 29,237,109 (1st week)2. Cruisers - Second Gear: 14,900,791 (2nd week)3. Monster Mash: 7,971,699 (4th week)4. Halloweentown II: 6,756,975 (4th week)5. The Fault in Our Stars: 6,278,818 (3rd week)6. Our Beloved Savior: 4,390,127 (3rd week)7. Past Tense: 3,243,202 (5th week)8. Some Assembly Required: 1,918,871 (5th week)9. Penny Press: 1,180,745 (6th week)10. Khanh Bernarda Alba: 898,221 (5th week)--Empty Hearth: 422,259 (1st week -2 THEATERS!)Oct 29-31:Now… that is more like it. Vast Dark 4 hits Number 1 without any question about it. Of course, don’t be surprised to see it topple down quickly, as Halloween night is a big night for these kind of movies. Both Monster Mash and Halloweentown II benefited from Vast Dark, as people who couldn’t sneak into Vast Dark 4 ended up seeing more comedy and less horror with one of those two films. Empty Hearth breaks a 30k PTA to hit the top 10 in its second weekend.1. Vast Dark 4: 40,496,661 (1st week)2. Dogs of Babel 27,715,334 (1st week)3. Fright Town 2: 15,922,530 (2nd week)4. Cruisers - Second Gear: 8,055,368 (3rd week)5. Monster Mash: 4,708,086 (5th week)6. Halloweentown II: 4,396,088 (5th week)7. The Fault in Our Stars: 3,488,512 (4th week)8. Our Beloved Savior: 2,083,994 (4th week)9. Past Tense: 1,883,003 (6th week)10. Empty Hearth: 1,767,029 (2nd week -58 Theaters)
  14. September 3-6:Creepily, Slender Man slips into the top spot, with Time Lapse quite a bit behind. The holdovers are strong in general, except for Giant Spiders 2, which still manages to lose a lot of business despite opening a weekend before Labor Day Weekend.1. Slender Man: 28,366,191/33,164,203 (1st week)2. Time Lapse: 20,656,319/24,158,424 (1st week)3. Giant Spiders 2: 18,978,190/21,259,332 (2nd week)4. Plastic-Man: 12,597,554/15,149,438 (3rd week)5. Against All Odds: 8,903,744/11,358,509 (2nd week)6. Shark Mutiny: 7,691,560/9,768,324 (5th week)7. Shiverin’ Gulch: 4,814,173/6,115,909(5th week)8. House of the Scorpion: 3,264,732/4,098,331 (4th week)9. Starcraft 2: 2,421,811/3,145,213 (8th week)10. Harlington House: 2,335,947/3,024,431(5th week)September 10-12:Are you ready to WATCH VAGUE GENRE MOVIE? Apparently not, as Maddox’s Vague Genre-- I mean some guy’s Action Movie, puts up numbers not even close to the standard set (and rarely/never) met by the Scary Movie series. Adele gets some business from her core audience but cannot break out enough for better than 4th in the Box Office. For Starcraft fans, it was a losing battle for 10th place. Starcraft had a better hold than Scorpions, but not quite enough to stay in the Top 10.1. Action Movie: 23,848,523 (1st week)2. Time Lapse: 12,154,178(2nd week)3. Slender Man: 11,709,564 (2nd week)4. Adele: Rolling in the Deep: 9,064,238 (1st week)5. Giant Spiders 2: 7,118,719 (3rd week)6. Plastic-Man: 6,609,936 (4th week)7. Against All Odds: 4,930,003 (3rd week)8. Shark Mutiny: 4,452,644 (6th week)9. Shiverin’ Gulch: 2,502,407(6th week)10. House of the Scorpion: 1,389,470 (5th week)September 17-19:Summer is surely over now… without a single film breaking 20 million. Both Penny Press and The Fall do in the high end of expectations, and Penny Press manages to beat out the weekend despite being behind a bit based on Nikki Finke’s Friday Morning Guesses. Spiders manages to have a decent hold by its standards, below 60% of a drop, but still falls behind Plastic-Man in the process. Khanh doesn’t quite hit the Top 10 in its first release.1. Penny Press: 17,523,782 (1st week)2. The Fall: 16,636,521 (1st week)3. Action Movie: 12,465,623 (2nd week)4. Time Lapse: 7,031,192 (3rd week)5. Slender Man: 5,078,439 (3rd week)6. Adele: Rolling in the Deep: 4,339,051 (2nd week)7. Plastic-Man: 3,665,210 (5th week)8. Giant Spiders 2: 2,958,404 (4th week)9. Against All Odds: 2,771,155 (4th week)10. Shark Mutiny: 2,429,808 (7th week)--Khanh Bernarda Alba: 2,201,688 (1st week - Limited)September 24-26:While just two new movies came out, three movies dropped off the Top 10, with Khanh going up to 7th. It was good thing for Giant Spiders watchers not to see the embarrassment as their film dropped below Against All Odds this weekend! Past Tense and Some Assembly Required both did good business, with good word of mouth helping Past Tense beat most of the expectations set for it. 1. Past Tense: 24,606,339 (1st week)2. Some Assembly Required: 18,721,564 (1st week)3. Penny Press: 9,879,908 (2nd week)4. The Fall: 8,286,651 (2nd week)5. Action Movie: 6,765,094 (3rd week)6. Time Lapse: 3,836,218 (4th week)7. Khanh Bernarda Alba: 2,781,268 (2nd week - Wider)8. Slender Man: 2,381,279 (4th week)9. Plastic-Man: 2,000,838 (6th week)10. Adele: Rolling in the Deep: 1,995,096 (3rd week)
  15. August 6-8:While Shark Mutiny didn’t quite get the numbers some were hoping for, both of the openers manages to easily grab the top two slots of the week. 4chan’s opening wasn’t huge, but it’s still pretty impressive how such a topic managed to even get the audience it did.1. Shark Mutiny: 44,227,309 (1st week)2. Shiverin’ Gulch: 33,168,496 (1st week)3. Lucid: 26,522,116 (2nd week)4. Starcraft 2: 22,692,728 (4th week)5. Brandybrook: 9,137,740 (3rd week)6. Last Chapter: 6,523,476 (3rd week)7. Hindenburg 4,526,605 (6th week)8. 4chan: The Truth: 2,688,169 (3rd week - Wide)9. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm: 1,860,670 (7th week)10. Bowling Night: 832,949 (5th week)August 13-15:Scorpions invade the Box Office! Beating all expectations, some of which had Scorpions finishing in 2nd place, it instead gets an easy first place, despite an impressive hold by both of the holdovers from last week. Harlington House didn’t manage to do nearly as much business, sandwiched in the #5 spot between Lucid and Starcraft 2.1. House of the Scorpion: 38,457,911 (1st week)2. Shark Mutiny: 29,415,583 (2nd week)3. Shiverin’ Gulch: 20,295,803 (2nd week)4. Lucid: 13,581,976 (3rd week)5. Harlington House: 12,626,557 (1st week)6. Starcraft 2: 12,088,567 (5th week)7. Brandybrook: 5,173,584 (4th week)8. Last Chapter: 3,901,691 (4th week)9. Hindenburg 2,436,672 (7th week)10. 4chan: The Truth: 1,784,277 (4th week)August 20-22:Well, summer isn’t going to last forever. Plastic-Man didn’t put up huge numbers but still managed a 1st place finished. There hasn’t been a 50 million opener since Starcraft! The more interesting Box Office news this week was all the random movement in the rest of the movies. Shark Mutiny reclaimed 2nd place as House of the Scorpion dropped to 3rd, while Lucid slipped 3 spots due to having to give up IMAX theaters to Plastic-Man.1. Plastic-Man: 44,927,238 (1st week)2. Shark Mutiny: 19,952,590 (3rd week)3. House of the Scorpion: 19,500,902 (2nd week)4. Shiverin’ Gulch: 12,845,214(3rd week)5. Harlington House: 7,543,106 (2nd week)6. Starcraft 2: 7,166,103 (6th week)7. Lucid: 7,125,104(4th week)8. Brandybrook: 2,878,583 (5th week)9. Last Chapter: 2,389,006 (5th week)10. Hindenburg: 1,288,512 (8th week)August 27-29:What? Spiders?! Again? Yes. The spiders come and take the Box Office by storm, taking a lot of what would have been Scorpion'sbusiness in the process! Against All Odds finds its target audience and does adequately by tapping into that market, but it lackedthe compelling story compared to some similar movies to really break out. Despite its mediocre first weekend Shark Mutiny continues to hold well.1. Giant Spiders 2: 47,588,239 (1st week)2. Plastic-Man: 23,038,688 (2nd week)3. Against All Odds: 14,637,094 (1st week)4. Shark Mutiny: 12,488,326 (4th week)5. Shiverin’ Gulch: 7,689,145(4th week)6. House of the Scorpion: 7,404,698 (3rd week)7. Harlington House: 4,260,346 (3rd week)8. Starcraft 2: 4,105,461 (7th week)9. Lucid: 3,531,914(5th week)10. Brandybrook: 1,475,561 (6th week)
  16. Oops, looks like I spilled re-re-refried beans all over my computer stationlooks like we're going to have to waaaait. Ignore that spoiler.
  17. I have to work overtime tomorrow. I'll be able to get up the rest of the numbers by Sunday.
  18. I haven't even read Marketing. I've only read the review threads, Part 2, consensus, and the films. Insisting we add Marketing and other stuff just makes this game way too time-consuming for those of us who don't have all the time in the world.
  19. I'm not really interested in the Marketing Section that much tbh.
  20. There's still a movie with a "U" rating. I think that's like an R in Europe or somewhere?
  21. Jul 2-5:Hindenburg launches off for an excellent Independence Day Weekend! WoW has a steep drop but still puts good numbers up. Bowling Night wasn’t as bad as some Adam Sandler movies, but it’s clear that Sandler’s 40 million opening “locks” are a thing of the past. WoW stabilzes from its big drop a bit, and Career Buster keeps its legs.1. Hindenburg 47,873,308 (2nd week)2. Bowling Night: 26,488,245 (1st week)3. Stories from Eden: 1,373,944 (6th week)10. Career Buster 1,289,534 (8th week)Jul 23-25:It was going to take a miracle for something to top Starcraft. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Brandybook disappointed somewhat but was good for 2nd place. Last Chapter annoyed critics and drew females hoping to see more of Zac Efron. The 4chan documentary couldn’t quite make the top 10 in its first release.1. Starcraft 2: 63,722,675 (2nd week)2. Brandybrook: 28,419,906 (1st week)3. Last Chapter: 17,675,209 (1st week)4. Career Buster 713,501 (9th week)--4chan: The Truth: 591,206 (1st week -Limited)July 30-Aug 1:Lucid ends July with a solid finish, while 4chan’s numbers may lead some to suspect a prank in the reporting system, but were otherwise a bit lower than some expected.1. Lucid: 46,628,193 (1st week)2. Starcraft 2: 38,443,890 (3rd week)3. Brandybrook: 15,466,113 (2nd week)4. Last Chapter: 10,414,233 (2nd week)5. Hindenburg 8,135,239 (5th week)6. 22. I'd like to lay claim to Animorphs and Everworld... not that anyone else here read those... or would admit to having read both
  23. June 4-6:The kids are out of school and they’re in theaters, seeing Summer Wars. Killer Husband still managed to draw decent crowds. In theaters, kids would see Summer Wars as their parents saw Killer Husband. 39 Clues manages to hold on pretty well despite another PG-rated film opening.1. Summer Wars: 42,337,249 (1st week)2. 39 Clues: 30,397,353 (2nd week)3. Killer Husband: 22,234,953 (1st week)4. Career Buster 15,035,915 (2nd week)5. Espionage Project: 14,639,813 (3rd week)6. Men of Night: 717,063 (7th week)June 11-13:Both of the openers performed solidly, and Career Buster is showing some strong legs, with just a 34.1% drop from the last weekend. The lack adult-oriented comedies is really keeping it going!1. Stories from Eden: 41,598,206 (1st week)2. Double Chromosome: 34,102,466 (1st week)3. Summer Wars: 26,634,363 (2nd week)4. 39 Clues: 18,814,137 (3rd week)5. Killer Husband: 13,056,364 (2nd week)6. Career Buster 9,907,164 (3rd week)7. Espionage Project: 7,293,554 (4th week)8. Career Buster has just a 25.5% drop due to the lack of similar films. However, another animated movie coming out drags Summer Wars down quite a bit.1. Chris Smith and the Island of Dinosaurs: 47,539,157 (1st week)2. Stories from Eden: 21,348,199 (2nd week)3. Legally Blonde: 21,083,652 (1st week)4. Double Chromosome: 19,230,381 (2nd week)5. Next Dimension: 2,972,884 (7th week)June 25-27:Now this is summer! WoW: Cataclysm beat all but the highest expectations set upon it and is the year’s first 100 million opener. While the first WoW opened in December amid several fantasy movies, the open spot in June was much better for the second part. All the other films began to drop faster due to WoW eating into their demographics, particularly Espionage Project and Career Buster.1. World of Wacraft: Cataclysm: 106,893,932 (1st week)2. Chris Smith and the Island of Dinosaurs: 26,341,447 (2nd week)3. Legally Blonde: 11,043,617 (2nd week)4. Stories from Eden: 10,955,896 (3rd week)5. Double Chromosome: 10,244,024 (3rd week)6.
