Just saw JL rotten tomatoes score, smart move by WB to delay the % release. It'll help it this weekend but not next.
Wonder is doing better than I thought it would.

Hey it at least it got a D cinemascore. It's not the worst of the year in that aspect.

I absolutely loved this movie. Definitely will watch again.

My friend just called me ranting how blade runner 2049 was just the worst movie she's ever seen. She was like what the hell did I just watch. She said other people around her were complaining too. Movie sales are just going to keep dropping if critics keep throwing up high RT ratings on movies that are "art". The general audience can't afford to risk their hard earned money on movies like this. Mother! and now this 😅

I think it looks pretty good. The stars themselves won't put extra butts in the seats on their name only but the storyline looks good for a thriller. This could surprise depending on reviews.

It makes sense.
If I were her agent, and I had three options ( "JLaw in an action thriller where she kicks ass" versus "Jlaw in a horror film where she is terrorized" versus "Jlaw in a family drama where she reconnects with her father")...which one would you think I could ask more money for?
And based on her resume, which of those three pitches might actually get a 20-million payday be even considered?
I think it would less risky to ask for that kind of money if a potential franchise was involved.

It looks like a fun movie. I'm not sure this is one to ask for a $20 million salary for. If she pulls it off good for her.

Wouldn't surprise me. An outspoken female is pretty much their worst nightmare.
For now, till another strong woman makes headlines. They think women need to know their place in the man made hierarchy of the world.

Battle of the Sexes will be expanding to 1,200 theaters next weekend.

Hope that doesn't backfire. The numbers aren't strong enough IMO.

It would be great if Janney got some award recognition for this. She's amazing.

I like how DA has put a guide to understanding the movie. As if the audience is to stupid to understand his blatant, lazy assed symbolism.

Kingsman should push It out of #1. Mother!'s low box office is rustling in DA's worse nightmare: no one is talking about his "art". It's already yesterday's news.

The kid from stranger things had a star turn in this film. Loved seeing his humorous side.

That's true.
And Paramount even increased their marketing buy at the end, so they put even more money in to try and save it.
Didn't Paramount distribute Noah? It's not like they are new to Aronofsky. They even tried to fool the GA with marketing then. It worked a little bit better then than now.

The only way Lawrence can be hurt by this is if it can be determined her out of context Hurricane controversy hurt the bottom line. Then she becomes a liability marketing a movie but I would be surprised to find this is the case. The GA work too hard for their money to throw it away on something they might not like. Simple as that.

I didn't pay attention to the marketing but I think there was a high concept there they could've focused on.
Whatever, I maintain that a lot of people hating this right now are going to label it a "misunderstood masterpiece" in a few years.
No they aren't.

Yeah, there is basically zero chance he and Allison Janney lose this year.
Add Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell to that list and I will be very happy.

And all from polling like 200 people at 2 or 3 theaters.
I'm beginning to think you were the person responsible for green lighting this film.

People at my school love The Revenant. It just ended up being one of the rare films that was widely acclaimed amongst both "cinephiles" and the GA.
The general audience are cinephiles. They go to movies because they like them.
Time to go see It again since I'm a cinephile of horror movies 😉

😅 at Oscar talk for Mother! Audiences hated it and it flopped. There are plenty of other deserving movies.

The reason I'll chose Wonder over JL is simple, Chobsky is a better director than Snyder. Nothing against Snyder but his style or vision isn't for me. I won't waste my money on anything he directs again.
