Even the online scores for Ghostbusters shocked me. Alt-Right barely touched them and the scores seem quite fair.I would have thought the scores would be manipulated down to excessive lows like 1's and 2's.
The religious right was pretty active against Noah. They actively gave it low scores initially. Eventually they move on and in time the score recovers. The way the deadline article read mostly Jen and Darren fans went and seen it. That CinemaScore for Darren's fan base isn't good.

I think the audience is going to hate this more than Noah 😬. WOM is going to be toxic. Next weeks BO drop might be huge.

I hope Ruth has a decent storyline. That's all I'm asking for. She deserves better than what she got in this season of Preacher.

Considering how extreme it is there isn't much doubt the audience score will drop. I don't think this movie is even on the alt-right radar. Promotion for the movie has been deceiving.
Im interested in seeing it at some point. The pretentiousness that has permeated every aspect of this film has put me off for the time being.

I pity all the new releases coming out this weekend.

I haven't heard anyone even mention AA. I didn't realize it was still a thing till this week. I thought it was released a long time ago.

Aronofsky is no stranger to controversy, he's not the guy critics usually fawn over. He has many fans but also a lot of detractors since requiem for a dream became a "notorious" movie at Cannes. Mother! is no different critical reception-wise than most of his movies.
Even that movie had a 78% RT rating. I enjoy his work for the most part. I'll see
this one eventually but probably not right away.

Part of me thinks Aronofsky is trolling critics. Like he intentionally made a crap movie, presents it as art and laughs as critics fall over themselves for it.

$13 million budget includes all this promotion?

Why is every movie good now
TIFF is sort of a joke when it comes to movie reviews. Almost every movie with a big name is a oscar contender. One of the reasons why it gets so many movies submitted. In this case though I hope the buzz is right. Chastain is due.

TIFF journalists claim every movie is an Oscar contender.

"Jennifer's an autodidact, which means someone who completely teaches themselves. No-one ever taught her how to act," he said.
"Not only is she an incredible emotional actress, she's a technical actor as well – which is very important in filmmaking. You have to know where the lights are and land in the light, and in this film especially she's dancing with the camera the whole time.""There's just an endless amount of energy and consideration in everything she does. This is a two-hour film, and sixty-six minutes of that is a close up of her face – yet it's not boring. The audience becomes Jen. And I needed someone who could capture the audience."
"There's no score in this movie, and the reason there's no score is Jennifer was giving us all the score we needed. I couldn't help her with music, and I've never had that – every actor can use a little push."Most of my movies, except The Wrestler, had wall-to-wall score, but this one we didn't need it – which was a strange situation, and that was because of Jen."
No music was needed folks, because this is Jlaw's Requiem.
Behold & Listen to the nuances and the counter points.
You left off the part where he talked about how difficult the pool scene was to film becuase Jen kept walking on water.

Both actresses are making an impact in Hollywood and I appreciate their outspokenness. I've watched most of their movies and plan on continuing too. I'm a little hesitant about this one at the moment but am intrigued.

You know that none of those movies was on her name. ZDT's main draw was Osama. Mama is a horror and that genre doesn't play by star power rules. The rest was ensemble with Damon and Nolan being much bigger draws.
That said, nothing wrong with not being a boxoffice draw since 95% of actors can't open a door let alone a movie. C8 has a tremendous career without that power, for example, but she caught on at much younger age (20s).
So she needs to thank the men for her successes? Good thing she didn't win an Oscar for ZDT, her acceptance speech thanking Osama for her award would have been awkward as hell. BTW can she thank the men for what you think are her flops? I can see why you don't like some of her tweets.

This might be another movie where critics RT and the audience RT rating will be vastly different. If that's the case hopefully this puts a wedge between RT and the public. Audiences are too dependent on RT.

It seems like forever since I went to the movie theater. The offerings have been rather pathetic. Looking forward to IT. Studios need to put a better effort for their late summer offerings.

But when it was first announced we were just hoping for a 25 million dollar opening weekend.
You were hoping 😉 This always had the nostalgia factor. It was going to be huge from the beginning.
-
I knew this would be huge. I was hoping it would be closer to 100m OW tbh.
-
It's too early to tell what it looks like. It has a Hitchcock aura to it. It even reminded me some what of The Others. At the moment however we have really no idea what it's about.

This should do well at the BO. I wish it had more of an original vibe to it but there's time to learn more about it. Has a Rosemary's Baby feel to it.
-
There isn't enough promotion to get this on the radar.

This is going to be this years La La Land. Calls for Oscar nominations without even seeing it. Oscar for you and an Oscar for you

I hope both Frances and Sam get some award buzz. This is easily one of my most anticipated this year. Can't wait.
