  1. It should be noted D23 isn't really used as a place to launch trailers or footage. To my knowledge, Wrinkle in Time is the only time a trailer launched during the expo to the general public. But I'm sure we'll get a lot of livetweets and liveblogs describing any footage or concept art, so that's at least something.

The Law of the Tomato will save the comedy genre.
  3. http://deadline.com/2017/07/war-for-the-planet-of-the-apes-spider-man-homecoming-wish-upon-weekend-box-office-1202127211/ Apes: High-$50M to low-$60M, but some rival distributors think it can get above $70M Homecoming: $50-53M, down 55-57% Wish Upon: high single digits
  4. http://deadline.com/2017/07/quentin-tarantino-margot-robbie-sharon-tate-manson-murders-brad-pitt-1202127045/ Margot Robbie is reportedly the front runner for Sharon Tate.
  5. http://deadline.com/2017/07/chaos-walking-tom-holland-daisy-ridley-doug-liman-film-release-date-1202126787/ Releases March 1, 2019.
  6. On the movie side, all the Pixar and WDAS announcements are gonna be exciting, but I'm probably most excited for the Wrinkle in Time movie. Everything I've heard about the movie makes it sound like it's gonna be something very special, so I can't wait to see the first footage. And as a scheduling nerd, I hope Disney updates their slate and reveals what the untiteld movies are and who gets what slot. Haven't really paid close attention to the theme park stuff, but I know Star Wars Land is gonna be iconic, and there are rumors of some changes to Jungle Cruise, which definitely has me curious. Hopefully, it isn't just an animatronic of The Rock and nothing else.
  7. Apologies for going back to 1992, but this was just a fascinating trivia factoid I had to share. So I watched Basic Instinct for my Film Studies class last semester (for those wondering about my opinion, I thought it was overall pretty decent, although the film definitely loses some of its spark when Catherine Trammel isn't on screen), and my professor told my class that the film was originally released on DVD with an ice pick. A little weird for the studio releasing the DVD with a murder weapon, but it's a nice touch.
  8. Kinda related to Panda's posts, but I definitely feel we should have some bad movies in the mix too. It could be fun to get together and riff on some trash.
  9. I'm open to maybe having a Stephen King movie on the first weekend of August, but this is solid overall.
  10. I might be able to make that time, but Wednesday's when I get back from vacation and I have a lot of work to catch up on, so I could be swamped with stuff. We'll see. Also, something that I think could be fun is to maybe have our movie nights be related to a movie coming out on the weekend. So this week we could watch one of the newest Apes movies or even the one from the 1960s. Then next week, we can see either a Nolan or Besson movie. Then the week after we watch John Wick or a Sony Animation movie. Etc. Not saying we have to, but it would be kinda cute.
  11. As time goes on, the more and more I think Meg has potential to really overperform. Both The Shallows and especially 47 Meters Down went above expectations and had really strong holds, and these were shark movies that were pretty cheap. So a big-budget shark movie has good potential to blow up, especially since there won't be much competition, outside of M:I 6 and Predator. I'm not completely 100% confident, especially since Jason Statham has never really been a good draw in the domestic box office, but I think it will easily cross the $100M mark.
  12. http://deadline.com/2017/07/gemini-man-will-smith-ang-lee-release-date-2019-1202124761/ The film is now being distributed by Paramount, and will release on October 4, 2019.
