  1. 2016 was a long time ago. People's tolerance and standards change, which is objectively a good thing. If you want me to give you a good line on something, just think of the "punching up vs. punching down" method. If a comedian mocks transgender people or Muslims or other oppressed groups of people, that's punching down and that's not okay. Mocking people in power, like politicians or billionaires or racists, is punching up and that's okay. And even then, looking at Gervais' joke, despite going after a big, major celebrity, there's still a lot of dated "women can't drive har har har" jokes that are punching down and super sexist and even used Caitlyn's dead name in his bit, which is also punching down. Sure, maybe people were fine with it in 2016, but that doesn't make it okay, and it shows that he needs to adapt his taste, at least if he wants to be a good person. For the record, I'm more than fine with people dunking on Caitlyn Jenner. She's a garbage human and sucks hardcore. But deadnaming and using sexist humor against her is not the way to do it.
  2. To be fair, Siddhant Adlakha is pretty harsh as a critic (not a bad thing, dude makes great reviews) compared to the usual IGN/Collider writer staff. He actually got forcibly removed from reviewing the Loki show because IGN readers/MCU stans thought he was being too mean and "critical" about a Marvel show. It would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.
  3. You have to wait like an hour or something for RT to update. Their website takes forever to update and I don't know why.
  4. Moderation @karlleng @excel1 @brothernero @Tarintino Guys, we have a general politics thread. Only talk about politics in context to Disney. If you want to talk about net worths or whatever, go elsewhere

  8. Cool. This still isn't the right thread for it. We have a Fantastic Beasts thread. Go there if you want to talk about this stuff. I'll even link it right here.
  9. Moderation @earthtne This isn't the Fantastic Beasts thread. I get you're mad people are calling it a kid's movie (which is something we've seen one specific poster do ever since 2016. A little suspicious if you ask me), but it's getting super off-topic.

  12. Simple. They'll just...put out press tour stuff after the fact. They'll publish interviews after the trailer comes out. It's likely these interviews already have material not intended for public consumption yet. Do you really think interviews come out the day after they are done? It's usually done in advance and deliberately chosen to come out in certain parts of the marketing campaign. And even if it was, I'm still confused by the whole "You can't put a Thor trailer/press junket interview the same time Strange tickets go on sale". Marvel's been able to do mulitple marketing campaigns before without overshadowing the other. Do you all really think people will just be like "golly gee whiz, Thor 4 looks cool. Oh Strange tickets are out. Thor 4 is no longer in my memory"? People can in fact look at two separate things, especially when Doctor Strange tickets only take like one minute of a person's time. I really think you need to relax a little bit. Trust me when I say, Thor 4's not in any danger whatsoever.
  13. Still, Pain and Gain, which had two of the biggest box office powerhouses of that time, and Bay off the peak of Transformers' popularity, barely got to 20M in 2013. Even adjusted, you get to about 25M. What exactly is the big hook/draw for Ambulance that can help it match Pain and Gain?

I guess that means we're going inbetween? Regardless, we're in for a strong debut this weekend.
  16. Studios in general have a bad capitalist mindset of short-term profits and fear of the future. When COVID spikes, they only think about the short-term and run away from it. Plus in some respects, they can just plop it on their streaming service, get some headlines, and then call it a day. And also studios don't care about theatrical and are only begrudgingly accepting they need it. Not to say they won't abandon it again in due time. Sure it may seem silly this happens again and again, but garbage capitalism means the big studios can make the same mistakes again and again and never get hurt from it. It's funny if it wasn't so terrible.
