  1. Pretty sure Paddington likes to collect Transformers toys in his spare time. That seems like a silly quirk of his.
  2. Long story short, a lot of the film's advertising is being aimed (not at everybody mind you, please do not twist this) at QAnon crazies and other evil people who are bad. Jim Caviezel, the star, is promoting the film through these QAnon communities, with crazed beliefs about child traffickers draining the blood of children to obtain adrenochrome. Now of course, some say that because the movie itself doesn't contain QAnon content and isn't like a Dinesh D'Souza pic, then that means it's fine and boosts theaters. But also this is empowering people who want me dead and believe my queer brothers and sisters are grooming and killing children. You can decide for yourself which side you want to be on, but we are not discussing it here (hint hint hint hint hint to anybody who wants to start this again)
  3. lol I just went through the same thing. My sister came over, we were playing some video games, then I woke up to some disc horse. It's like people knew I would be gone lol
  4. If Elemental follows the rest of Inside Out's run: 136.8M Following Finding Nemo: 161.2M
  5. This is where you were being passive aggressive. “Out here in reality” is you mocking others for saying Barbie is selling more than Avatar 2. And yeah, maybe they are wrong, but using that phrase is a direct insult and holier than thou condescension whether you realize that or not. “In reality, where smarty pants like me live and dumb dumbs like Barbie stans are, Barbie is way behind those other movies”. That is insulting and disrespectful and totally uncalled for. If you said something like “that’s not very accurate. Barbie is a fair bit behind Avatar and significantly behind recent Marvle movies”, you would have been fine. But you just had to act like a pompous jerk for zero reason. That’s not cool and we’re not letting that slide. You’re an adult, so it’s expected for you to behave like one. So next time, please at least try to be mindful of your delivery and ask yourself, “will this be taken the wrong way?”. It only takes a few seconds.
  6. Moderation One more condescending remark like this and you are getting a threadban. Don’t do this again.
  7. Moderation We're done with this CGI/VFX stuff. Please move on to something else.
  8. ...oh yeah. Forgot about that. Well, I'm still annoyed!
  9. Wait...Lin Shaye's not in this new Insidious? Then why even make this stupid movie in the first place??????????????????
  10. Now I'm moving to #1 with no Avatar Feel like especially after Barbie showed how an unconventional concept based off an iconic IP can cause massive success (and the first Joker frankly), I can see tons of hype and buzz depending on how they advertise it. And I have faith, despite me not even liking the first Joker movie.
  11. I don’t think that’s right? His biggest movie domestically in the 90s was Cliffhanger and that did 92M IIRC
  12. It’s official. Harrison Ford is the only actor to appear in at least one 100M domestic grossing film per decade since the 70s. Not a lot like him.
  13. Well of course you can’t get people like Ryan Reynolds or Will Ferrell in this model, but the idea is that you’re making these on the cheap and can potentially make comedy vehicles for people who are cheap to get. Blumhouse has gotten the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lupita Nyong’o to be in their movies. Would John Mulaney or Issa Rae really cost that much?
  14. I will say that an easy solution for comedies to succeed, outside of some obvious sequels, is to just go the Blumhouse route. Make comedy movies on shoestring budgets, making them low enough that even 40M or whatever box office will suffice and make it profitable. Build enough of a brand like Blumhouse that gets comedy fans excited and trustworthy, and you can get your Get Out or Black Phone style hits. It’s such an obvious play, but no producer wants to take charge. I don’t get it.
  15. Because it’s easy to blame everything bad against some random group of people, even if it makes no sense. Happened with millenials, the MTV Gen, boomers. It’s a never ending cycle.
  16. Have lots of honorable mentions, but one I do want to highlight that I saw for the WB countdown is The Great Race. It's a live-action Looney Tunes and it's absolutely hysterical through and through. In many ways it's the Lawrence of Arabia of comedies and there's really nothing else like it. Also features the greatest pie fight in cinema history.
  17. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Could watch it a million times and never get sick of it.
  18. Actually, that's going to be a problem. My Disney countdown submissiopn period starts later in October and lasts until January 2024. So that's a big conflict of interest right there. But you could do this next year and/or vote for as many WDAS films as you like in the Disney countdown.
  19. Well there is r/boxoffice and World of KJ. But also every single movie forum I can think of has a box office thread in some capacity with people knowledgeable about the box office. There's also specialty forums dedicated to certain genres and franchises if you're passionate about one type of movie. Plus you can go on social media sites like Twitter, Threads, Facebook, etc. and find like-minded people there. And if all else fails, and nothing satisfies you, you can just make your own website where you are in control. If anything, there's more avenues of discussion than ever before. This is blatantly untrue. We are more than fine with people dogging on all the Disney movies listed. People have disagreed with certain sentiments, but it's not like people aren't allowed to think differently. Last weekend was filled to the brim with people dogging on Indy and trying to argue if that movie or The Flash was the bigger bomb. The only times we may stop something is if something goes too far. If we are regurgitating arguments again and again, if somebody insults another person, etc. The only reason it may seem we are more protective of Disney movies is because people love to regurgitate the same arguments, throw insults towards others with regards to Disney movies, or simply throw out insipid and idiotic hyperbole around these movies way more compared to the other studios. I'm sure you will disagree and think we give Disney too many free passes, but you are simply not paying attention. And if you think things aren't fair for whatever reason...well, you don't have to post here. And I laid out every example of places to go, so there's no reason to hang out in a place you don't like. Sorry!
  20. Shawn did say the Friday #s will likely rise with evening showings. So we could see a different story later tonight.
  21. Brutal honesty. Simple as that. It's the only way some people will learn sometimes and get the message through. And I honestly don't really think this kind of conversation rebelscum was putting in and especially Elden Lord's behavior towards people daring to be more positive on Elemental's box office was something this place needed. It's my job to make this forum a fun, non-toxic environment. And if I have to be a little direct to get the job done, so be it. Like I said, my job is to make this place a fun, non-toxic environment. That means nipping conversations that are destined to be problematic in the bud. I know how this place operates and it's better to contain something right away then let something fester. Rebelscum86 is new here, but a lot of his posts frankly evoke the usual concern trolling rhetoric common with Disney movies that are basically bait for pointless arguments and fights. People on the forums often complain about pointless fights and arguments that go nowhere. But when I do my job and try to stop stuff that people here hate, now that's a problem? I don't get it. Well...yeah. Sometimes certain movies have a lot of unnecessary toxicity to them. And since my job is to get rid of unneeded toxicity, I think it's fair to stop conversations And you have often been a ringleader with a certain kids movie about a last jedi. You've constantly trolled Star Wars threads for years and everybody here was sick of it. Like do you really, really want to talk about Last Jedi or Man of Steel or whatever for the umpteenth time? Do you think people are desperate, chomping at the bit to do it all the time? Is your life dependent on this kind of stuff? I don't think so. This kind of stuff was irritating for many to read. And I very much agree to that. So I'm just doing my job. And to everybody here, because I know I've gotten complaints over my moderation style...why are you here? Like I am genuinely confused by this. If you hate how a forum is run, and note that my fellow moderators generally seem fine with my style (though yes, they can and have argued with me on previous moments before), and it's clear things aren't going to change, why hang around a place you hate? As I've said countless times, this is not the only place where you can talk about box office, and it's more than easy to still stay connected with your buds here. So why are you still on this website? It's like a vegetarian hanging around a steakhouse. The only reason I can understand why hanging around a place you hate is if you were being forced to by some external force. And I am confident in saying that isn't the case. So what gives? This isn't rhetorical, I genuinely want to know.
  22. Yep. Still relevant. It's so obvious Feige has no more ideas outside of using this multiverse contrivance BS for some fan service pandering. And even then, who is actually excited about Jennifer Garner back as Elektra? Nobody. Not one person. They should have ended this after Endgame.
