What's really fun about this March is that all the big heavy hitters, the films that seem set to open to 40M or higher, are all midbudget, sub-100M featues (I'm assuming Wick 4 will be that, though I guess it could get above 100M. Having those be hits, along with Shazam and D&D likely sinking, it's just a nice reaffirmation to execs about the importance of small-ish movies like these and how they can develop big franchises.

All told, aside from Ant-Man (and some would argue its bad hold is a good one from a certain POV), not a bad weekend. Two openers that overperformed expectations, and one of them will probably be in the top 10 for a while, Avatar and Puss still doing their thing, a very funny fudge from Violent Night. Good stuff, especially as we head to a very fun and exciting March.

Moderation @SpiderByte Enough. I know you're gonna cry again that everybody's out to get you, but it's not funny anymore. Please put people on your Ignore list you don't like and call it a day. Your incessant defenses against Marvel anytime anybody dares to say anything mildly negative or pessimistic has to stop. It's derailed threads constantly, and everybody here is sick of it. And if you continue with this, you will get heavy repercussions. Trust me, I am not joing. I know you hate the mods for doing this stuff, but this is how we roll. Deal with it. Likewise, everybody else just ignore SpiderByte and their posts. You know they won't listen. There's no point in arguing with somebody who will put their head in the sand every single moment of the day.

Frankly, they told a crazy, wacky story in the blandest way possible. If it was a traditional horror movie, it could have been fine. If it was a madcap exploitation throwback, it could have been fine. Even if it just had some characters that were interesting and worth caring about, it could have been fine. But it's so lifeless and dull in its direction and all the characters are forgettable that you don't care what happens whenever the bear is not on screen. And the bear's screentime is pretty darn limited. It's annoying to think about what could have been.

Just got out of Cocaine Bear and one of the most awkward theater experiences I've ever had. A room full of people clearly excited and ready to go, and just pure silence outside of one or two sequences. Secondhand embarrassment type shit.

Good to see you back @Jandrew. A lot has changed since you were last here, but I hope you stick around and join the fun and excitement either way
