  1. Because you just repeated basically the same thing twice over just a couple minutes through two different posts. If you want to complain about this stuff, go on ahead, but that kind of rapid posting just seems excessive IMO.
  2. No offense, but they can keep their "inclusion" for all I care. All of Disney's gay characters are "likable, but still never say the 'G word' to avoid censorship" at best to "I didn't even know they were in the movie" at worst, all for capitalist greed purposes. This is true for all the studios of course, don't worry. It's crazy that Hollywood's mainstream studio movies do a worse job at making interesting and compelling LGBTQ+ characters and stories than what they put out in the 1990s. At this point, why even try?
  3. I mean if people are interested in both shows on the same day...they'll just watch both shows on the same day. Some are busier than others, yeah, but I don't think it's all that hard to pencil in two hours out of your day to watch both episodes. Also, Obi-Wan is a show that skews older towards fans nostalgic of the prequel trilogy while Ms. Marvel skews younger. There's crossover sure, but not an exact audience demo. And it's not like people can't still follow Twitter trends and hashtags, even if they're not in the Trending tab.

  7. I do kinda miss the commentary in Incredibles 2, but from a comedy and especially character standpoint, I think it holds up really well with the first. Plus the setpieces are just god tier stuff
  8. Scream: Nostalgic property to get horror fans to buy the other movies and Ghostface Funko Pops Jackass Forever: Performed worse than the other movies and is a nostalgic property Dog: 60M isn’t something to be super excited about IMO. Plus the movie would have made more 10 years ago. It is successful, but it won’t change anything. Lost City: would have made tons more 10 years ago. Not that impressed by it IMO Bad Guys: would have also made tons more even just 5 years ago. Uncharted: fits the nostalgic toy commercial. Uncharted has been around for a long time and it was made as a vessel to promote the video games. Yes these are all commendable success stories, but not these mind blowing hits IMO. I know that is something people disagree with, but that is just how I feel. Sorry!
  9. Look, I’m not saying theaters are dead forever. I’m not saying kids aren’t interested in theaters. Im not saying any of this stuff. I am simply stating how the GA feels, how the studio feels, separate from my thoughts, and how streaming will hurt Disney’s animated movies and their box office forever. Minions will do fine. Theaters will be fine. But even if Chapek is gone and Elemental or whatever was playing exclusively for months, it would still do poorly and worse than a few years ago because people will wait for Disney+. That’s not stuff I like or prefer, but I think will happen. It’s so frustrating words are being put into my mouth. Is nuance not allowed? Do I have to explain theaters are doing amazing and kids like movie theaters and everything will largely be fine every other sentence?
  10. And for the record, I know that day and date is stupid. But the studio execs don’t agree and are willing to burn their studios to the ground because they think streaming is more valuable. So how about you yell at them for their stupidity instead of me?
  11. Well people are seeing Top Gun in theaters because that’s the only way you can watch it right now. If there was a home option, I feel confident saying people would want to see it at home. And yeah, the movie being a nostalgic toy commercial is a big reason why people are watching it. It’s based off a super popular movie people loved back in the day and it has a wide variety of merchandise. Not as much as others granted, but do you seriously think Top Gun 2 would have made the money it did or have the same amount of hype if it was just a totally original feature not based on anything? Considering the most popular movies of the past few years are based off nostalgic properties, I doubt that’s the case. I will give you EEAAO, but that is more an exception to the rule IMO. There’s always those, but one movie does not change everything.
  12. Because Disney+ is more convenient and people prefer watching movies at home. Plus also these days the only things audiences want to go out to see are nostalgic toy commercials. Strange World and Elemental may be toy commercials, but they don’t have the nostalgia value. Sad but true!
  13. Well I guess Bob Iger should have realized all of this when he decided to make a streaming service. Nah. Disney movies emphasize studio branding on their movies way more than the other studios. All their movies have the Disney logo on their movie names and everybody knows Marvel and Star Wars are now Disney properties. Outside of a confused grandpa here and there, people can surmise that Despicable Me is not a Disney franchise. There’s not Disney logo, they’re not at the Disney parks, none of the other Despicable Me movies are on Disney+, and so on. Nobody will think Minions 2 is a Disney movie. That’s why the movie will probably open well.
  14. Note that this tweet says “see the movie this November”. There’s no word about it going to theaters or even during Thanksgiving. Lightyear did the same thing, so obviously this isn’t set in stone, but that wording is a wee bit sus, so a first weekend of November D+ launch isn’t completely off the table.
  15. That's not enough IMO. I know you keep saying families prefer the big screen, but I have seen little evidence of that. If they did, they would have gone to see Lightyear. I'll argue families prefer Disney+ because it's way cheaper and way more convenient. And people like convenience. The only way I could see families "preferring" theatres for Disney movies is if they came to Disney+ like a year later, which we both know will never happen. I'm sorry, but the genie is out of the bottle and we can't get it back. Even if Chapek leaves, and everything is magically better, people will still like this convenience. It's over.
  16. August 26 sounds about right. Bullet Train and ET fill up the first two weekends, August 19 will have Dragon Ball and probably Beast with Idris Elba, and Labor Day has Jaws. The 26th has a bunch of movies I've never heard of before, and IMAX re-releases usually happen in the dead of August. I know some may be annoyed by that, but you just have to be patient.
  17. Brad Bird likes working with John and is happy to be complicit with his garbage behavior. Andrew Stanton's also directing a lot of live-action stuff these days. He actually wrote the last episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
