  1. Man, people really need to educate themselves on Twitter etiquette when it comes to spoilers. Back in my day, you never saw a spoiler online unless you were actively looking for them. But nowadays, people have these big mouths and the algorithm forces you to look at every spoiler no matter how many words you mute. I've seen just about every moment from the Sonic 2 climax on Twitter, in 1080p quality somehow, despite not even being available on VOD yet. I already saw it opening day, but I can't imagine being a Sonic fan and having all this spoiled to you right then and there. I think I already have a basic understanding of the Strange 2 plot without having even seen it just on scattered tweets and images people plopped onto that site.
  2. There's this dude on the Noovie pre-show that's been hyping up Doctor Strange 2 the past couple weeks and was hyping up that Deadpool might pop up in the film. it's the most bizarre thing ever to me, because those cheesy Noovie shows (which for the record I love, Maria Menounos is an icon) are designed for the normies, not the people who go on Reddit to read up on spoilers.
  3. Let me clarify as somebody who started the supposed "Marvel is dead" talk that no, I don't think Marvel is dead. I just have concerns about the next two movies and how they'll stack up creatively and that things can go on a decline, while still being super popular and full of moneymakers. I feel like I emphasized that numerous times, so I really hate that things are construed that Marvel's dead forever and their movies are all bombs forever now. Does nuance not exist anymore?
  4. Not gonna name names, but when the Love and Thunder trailer came out, a user who has a source in the industry said the film was having issues behind the scenes and that they were having some kinks in the editing process, mainly that the comedy wasn't landing at all. This is obviously fixable, since a good edit of a joke can go a long way, movies get cut again and again, and I don't subscribe to the "bad production = bad movie" mantra a lot of people, albeit trolls, follow. And you know, second-hand "I heard it from a guy" comments are flimsy. But I have thought about it quite a bit, so you never know. 🤷‍♂️
  5. But hey, if I can inject some positivity, though it's not MCU related, I'm starting to feel like Dominion not only has a shot at winning the summer but could (emphasis on could) open above Jurassic World. Not saying it's a definite possibility, but they're using the right hooks to their advantage, both in the "dinos invading the world" hook and the nostalgia bait stuff. I absolutely hated both Jurassic World movies, and even I'll admit the trailers do a good job at selling the carnage and tickling the nostalgia feels that I'm honestly kind of tempted, even though I know I will walk out despising it. Could also be I just have a giant crush on Laura Dern though lmao
  6. I know I can be pretty cynical and I already went into my "state of Marvel" rant last week. I'm sure that this "handwringing" will be completely null and void and that I'm the idiot here. And I really hate when people say a film's going to be a failure because of production issues or heavy reshoots or bad test screenings, because those mean nothing and bad productions happen all the time. But I really wanted to get this off my chest...I don't really have a lot of confidence in Love & Thunder or BP 2 at this point, even though I'm super excited for both. Both will obviously be in the top 5 for the year, but I think they'll also have creative missteps that could lead to waning interest for future movies. We already have early word that Thor 4 isn't shaping up so hot, though that obviously can change with future cuts and edits, Strange 2 already went through heavy reshoots to mixed results, and the set of Black Panther 2 seemed like it was a total nightmare. Can't emphasize enough that I will likely be wrong, but this all feels like a slew of bad events one after another that give me bad vibes. That the cracks are starting to form and Marvel's no longer going to be top dog like it used to be. Which hey, nothing lasts forever. And it's kind of ironic considering all those Avatar sequels are around the corner. Jimbo really does play 4D chess with these movies. And just letting Legion and XXR know, since I know you guys will "Haha" my post, say that everything will be hunky-dory and talk about how people are complaining over nothing, that I do know for a fact the MCU will still be successful for decades to come. There will still be plenty of movies and shows, they will still make millions in profits, the big boy event movies will be massive, the smaller movies will still be huge, they will still be loved by fans and the GA, etc. Just that the franchise won't be as gigantic or talked about as it was in Phase 3 and that they won't be the biggest game in town for a variety of reasons. That's not a bad thing, that doesn't mean the series is in shambles, things are still fine. Please don't start an argument with me on this.
  7. I mean...that sounds about right? I like the show and I'm having a fun time binging it on Hulu in preparation for the movie, but Bob's Burgers has never caught on in the zeitgeist and became a household name in the same way Family Guy or Simpsons has.

I feel like for superhero movies, they're in their own realm/world when it comes to presales and the way they operate, and I generally don't like using CBMs as comparisons to non-CBMs, outside of Venom 2 of course. If anybody has ideas on what comps I should use for Dominion (F9 and Venom 2 are definites no matter what), I'm all ears, because I'm a tad stumped at the moment.

  10. It was just previews. Box Office Report lists it as such and I remember this from personal memory. BOM just has it listed separately because 8 PM previews back then weren't really as common as they are now. You look at Iron Man or Independence Day or other non-midnight movies pre-2013, and it's the same story. Man of Steel however has it listed previously because of that Wal-Mart BS.
  11. Possible, but not certain. If it follows Civil War, you get to 72.2M. If you follow The Batman, you get 63.9M. Of course, The Batman had Spring Break boosting its weekdays, so that probably means...68M? Just gonna say that.
  12. Okay, I was wrong about Moulin Rouge's success. I apologize for that. Even still, I think there will be issues this movie will face in getting younger audiences, no matter how many records Elvis has sold, which I do think will limit its box office potential. But like I said before, Rocketman numbers would still be very impressive and an incredibly strong result.

  14. So you're saying Team Kong wins once again? The loser lizard gets dunked on yet again? 2022 is my year.

  17. I can not get over this supposedly super serious horror movie unironically using that quote. Freddy Kreuger would think that line is stupid.
