  2. @Blankments @lorddemaxus This was the article I was talking about: https://variety.com/2021/film/news/biggest-movie-star-salaries-daniel-craig-dwayne-johnson-1235043305/ However with a re-read, it says Keanu's streaming buyout hasn't happened yet and he is only just entitled to it. I guess that means it could still move? Or they are still finalizing negotiations? Who knows!
  3. IIRC, there was a Variety article or whatever a couple weeks back that basically said all of the WB actors got their backend deals paid off due to HBO Max, including Keanu Reeves. I think if they did it now, it would basically lead to even more negotiations and/or complicated deal situations, or they just can't back out of it because it was already taken care of.
  4. Obviously it's not the same thing, but Black Widow also was sold as a theatrical event with Premier Access being pushed on the down low in a lot of promos and materials. Especially in comparison to stuff like Cruella or Jungle Cruise. Yet its OW still suffered because of this. People know this is coming to HBO Max, and it'll very likely get pimped out on the HBO Max app, on Fire Stick home pages, on PS5 home pages, etc. when it drops, making it even more known.
  5. In the Heights and The Suicide Squad were also sold as big theatrical events you had to see on the big screen and IMAX especially. Granted a good chunk of that promo was because of Chu and Gunn, but sadly people will go for the free, convenient one, regardless of how well it plays on the big screen.
  6. Honestly my issue is less Matrix's potential and more on the Max release. The opening weekend ceiling has only been about 30-35M so far for WB titles this year, and while I'm aware Space Jam and The Suicide Squad probably weren't going to open to 60M+ or whatever, I do think the movie being free to stream does diminish the opening weekend potential quite a bit here. That's why I've been saying a couple weeks back that Dune and Matrix should be exempt from the dual release, if only because they'll be forced into grossing 35M/75M, but I guess it's too late for that now.
  7. Hey, you're more than free to tell me I'm out of line. I know I'm not perfect, and if people have a problem with what I do or an action I make, they're free to tell me about it. I may not always agree, but I'm always willing to listen. And while I still feel somewhat justified in a few of my decisions, I do recognize I can be impulsive and strict when it's unneeded and I should have really looked over the situation better. So I'll say upfront that I'm sorry for my harsh actions and I will try and be more cautious on this kind of front. You don't have to accept my apology, but I hope you understand that I only do what I do over what I think is for the best of the forum and not out of any malicious intent.
  8. That's hard to hear. They just put out a trailer for that Dug Days show too, so it'll be kind of sad to hear his voice again
  9. Moderation Well, I looked over the situation and upon reading the feedback from many posters here, I have revoked @EmpireCity of his suspension. He is free to post once again with just 4 warning points to his name. However, this does not mean EC is completely off the hook. I still expect him to treat BOT members more respectfully, to cut down on his condescending, passive-aggressive behavior, and attacks on other members and the staff. No holier than thou persona, no "I was right all along neener neener", no insults on people who are being pessimistic. If he can not do this, he will get suspended again. And @EmpireCity I expect you, even if you don't like how I treated you today, to still follow these rules, because you are on a short, short, short leash.
  10. Well the reason is simple: he got to 10 warning points. Generally speaking, we only ban people when they reach 10 points, unless we find it to be absolutely necessary, and even then you'd have to do something really bad to make that happen. This gives folks a chance to realize their mistakes and clean up their attitude. Simply put, a lot of posters, while they may be frequent in their offensive or obnoxious postings, will at least quiet down once they start getting points. I know that's not the best system in the world, but it's certainly more fair to folks who don't know any better. And while his value of early box office numbers and advance word is nice, that doesn't excuse one's behavior. You could have the meaning of life, but if you can't be respectful on the boards, you can't post here, at least for a little while. And really, a one month suspension is about as light of a suspension as you can get here. He'll be back before you know it.
  11. Even so, his behavior and postings, specifically his "I was right about everything and people are upset about that", is basically him positioning himself with the condescending, "holier than thou" persona he was parroting last night. He basically said he would be better, not because he ackowledged his faults or respected the staff's wishes, but because he's right and everybody else is an idiot. He was literally doing the same thing he did last night, but tried to do it in a way he thought he wouldn't get caught. And I'm not gonna let this kind of backhanded apology stuff slide.
  12. It’s real. I told him to stop his condescending, passive aggressive attitude. He didn’t listen and continued his attitude. He was reaching 10 warning points, so he’s kaput. Sorry!
  13. Moderation I swear to God the things you guys do when I'm asleep.... @EmpireCity the attitude you're positioning over the past few hours has got to stop. You're picking fights with users, attacking folks who dare to be even mildly pessimistic about the future, and are passively-aggressively insulting folks left and right for not thinking exactly like you. I'm sure you have a million reasons why you think your behavior is justified and that it's the rest of the forum's fault or that I'm out to get you, but I don't care. Your behavior has zero justification and it's getting incredibly old. So I'm going to say this upfront to you. If you don't clean up your attitude and treat fellow users in a more respectful manner, you will see a suspension from the forums. You're only two warning points away, so I suggest you be careful. And if you really don't like what I'm saying or think that I'm being too ridiculous for whatever reason, just know that we aren't the only place on the Internet where you can talk about box office.

  15. It is actually kinda weird Universal didn't try and do a last-minute IMAX conversion for Candyman, because it would probably be a bigger draw than Free Guy on its third weekend. Maybe the soft tracking made them think it wasn't worth it?
