  1. Honestly I can't wait for Shang-Chi to come out only because this is the one film I've got the trailer for with almost every movie I've watched over the past month and I'm sick of seeing it. Made even worse because I've already seen the movie, so they're trying to hype me on something I've already seen. It sucks!
  2. I remember somebody saying that A24 stans are the indie equivalent of Disney adults and like...yeah.
  3. My mom, who loves all middlebrow Oscar bait, broke down crying by the end and couldn't stop talking about how powerful and beautiful this movie was when we got out the theater. Had to lie through my teeth and pretend this movie was amazing because I'm a good son.

  5. Ehh, it makes sense to me. I wasn't in love with it, but it's got a good, solid pace and some solid and creative slasher/gory moments to keep less discerning folks invested.

  7. Saw it this past Wednesday and can cosign to that. The atmosphere and subtext is just... 👌😘
  8. Moderation I had to put some things down into spoiler tags. I understand this is still early and what Twitter scoopers are saying may not be true. However, these kinds of potential leaks should still be hidden away, because some people want to be surprised or want to know little about the project. Please be careful and use the spoiler tag wisely.
  9. I mean maybe, but it always felt like Deadline delivered mid-day updates every weekend until the pandemic. I guess 30M+ openers were also more common back then, so maybe that’s the big issue
  10. Brandon Katz is an entertainment reporter for Observer and is a pretty active one online at that. Because of his position, he probably has good sources for these early box office results and since Deadline isn't doing their mid-day Friday updates anymore (it's really frustrating Deadline just stopped doing them after Jungle Cruise weekend IIRC), might as well get something for the industry/box office nerds to chew on.
  11. Likely including previews. Typically the trades and reporters like Brandon always lump in previews with Friday #s. Charlie is the only guy I can think of that reports previews and True Friday separately...or at least he used to (Comscore, please come back 😥)

  13. Really appreciate how this newest episode is just everybody talking about how sexy Thor and Hemsworth are. Good stuff.

The big one being that I see no reason to follow the Spiral and Space Jam comps because 4M+ previews sounds way too optimistic and unrealistic. But looking at just about everything else, it's still a given that 2M previews are the floor and 2.5M+ is more and more likely. Crazy to think over The Suicide Squad's OW could happen, but these are strange times we live in.
  17. For the record, I gave him warning points twice in the past couple weeks and have told him numerous times that his schtick is old and tiring. Please do not think we're letting anybody off the hook here.
