It’s really damn good. It doesn’t quite hit GOAT status like La La Land, but it’s still well worth watching. Ryan Gosling is fantastic and Claire Foy’s very good, but Chazelle is the star here.
The flights really accentuate the isolation Neil goes through, and when bad stuff goes down, it’s brutal and intense. There’s even some really good POV shots mixed in as well. And like with all Chazelle joints, the ending is the highlight. It’s beautiful in terms of scope, effects, and emotion.
Definitely see this in the theater too.
