I'm in a bit of a pickle when it comes to AMC. At my house, I have a Regal right next to my workplace, as well as another Regal only 10 minutes away. Meanwhile, the nearest AMC near my house is 25 minutes away. Basically, a longer, more inconvenient trek. At my university, which I'm at the majority of the year, there are two AMCs that are both ~15 minutes away (one of them also has indies sprinkled into their lineups), but not only are there closer theaters that are less than 10 minutes away, but I don't have a car to get there, so I have to take Ubers every time I want to go see a movie. They both cost around $40 going there and back again, which is already a lot just to see one movie. I could go with Sinemia, but the limit to only 1-3 ain't the greatest for somebody like me, so I'm kinda stuck in a bad situation. Then again, I guess maybe I can use some of the bus or train services near my university to get to those locations.

I should mention that none of the non-e-ticket theaters are giving out showtimes. Guess it's now dead dead.

FWIW, I remember when Top Gun 2 was first announced, my parents seemed pretty excited for it, so I can see it tapping into an older audience and be a modest hit (I'm currently predicting somewhere in the $105M range)

Predictions for the other 2019 IMAX movies because I'm bored: -Lego -Dumbo -Aladdin -Men in Black -Top Gun -Hobbs and Shaw (sharing with New Mutants) -Charlie's Angels -Joker (maybe also sharing with Gemini Man?) -Jungle Cruise -Bond -Terminator -Jumanji Maybe John Wick, Pets 2, or Cowboy Ninja Viking can squeeze in there?

Bit confused as to why Dumbo and especially Aladdin weren't mentioned in the IMAX press release. Guess Disney wants to push their Marvel movies more?

Somewhere around $140-$160M sounds about right for the movie, which I think Sony would be satisfied with, as even with the aliens and other VFX work, this will probably cost around Jumanji in the $100-130M range, which will be fine if OS matches or surpasses it. It should also benefit from being the only major tentpole next June that isn't an animated release. (Yeah, I know there's Cowboy Ninja Viking, but...come on)

Haven't seen Fallout yet, so I can't compare, but I'm confident in saying that M:I's is probably better. Spy's is fine, well-shot and choreographed and whatnot, but nothing extraordinary. In all honesty, it really takes you out of what's supposed to be a silly raunchy comedy.

The Spy Who Dumped Me July 27, 7PM, 5% full Trailers A Simple Favor ("That looks good") Robin Hood ("That seems like something Dad would love") Despite the small crowd, there were some decent chuckles, and a few big laughs over stuff Kate McKinnon did. Mom thought it was a bit silly and gory, but she thought Kate McKinnon was funny.

It's actually kinda amazing how weird and out of place the violence is, to the point where it feels like two different movies. The worst example is near the beginning,

It's pretty mediocre. The cast tries their best, and Kate McKinnon has a couple of funny moments, but most of the jokes aren't very funny, and it's got really bad tonal whiplash. The action scenes are fine and are decently shot, but they're surprisingly really intense, gory and gratuitous, which really takes you out of the film. One minute, somebody gets their neck cracked, or they get impaled, or they get shot in the head, then the next minute Kunis and McKinnon are cracking jokes about Minions and vaginas. Wouldn't recommend.
