I was messing around on Fandango a minute ago, and I saw that a couple of the theaters nearby are having screenings for this film a week in advance on the 27th. Is that the case for anyone else?
I still don't get why Jack Black's only doing the voice of Slappy in this. He just got a second wind of goodwill from Jumanji, but instead of Sony capitalizing on that, he's just relegated to a voice role with a bunch of no-name kids as the stars? At the very least, Sony should have kept 13 Reasons Why fresh off the success of that show.
Crazy jump, especially compared to 2012, the last time July 4 was on a Wednesday. Of course, this was long before Discount Tuesdays were a thing, but still.
