I really thought Guardians wouldn't impact it since the audience for it is primarily over the age of 40, but I guess not. If next week wasn't so packed it likely would've opened then (since The Hundred-Foot Journey doesn't look to make much of an dent at all).

That number for Guardians of the Galaxy is as astonishing as that number for Get on Up is disappointing (really thought that would do around $7M at the minimum).

Deadline is reporting that Get on Up is looking at a $14-15M for the weekend. It's still too early, but that would be very disappointing.

I was just looking at the schedule in the weeks ahead and the only movies being released on August 29 and September 5 are...The November Man, As Above So Below, and The Green Inferno. Oy the box office is gonna look depressing.

The Expendables 3 is looking to be an almost total non-event, so I don't think it has anything to worry about on that front.
