  1. Aren't you the same person who wouldn't shut up about what a "miserable flop" How to Train Your Dragon 2 was a few weeks ago? Or was that someone else with a Frozen avatar.
  2. Why so angry? Over friggin' Harry Potter, no less. Let them enjoy their trip down memory lane and just go away.
  3. What I really miss is the craziness whenever a new book came out. Seeing on the news all those lines and lines and lines people waiting outside the bookstore to buy it at midnight and hearing stories about some asshole who bought the book, ran outside, read the last few pages, and then ran back into the bookstore screaming what happens at the end only to then get stoned to death by angry, spoiled fans.
  4. It's so odd that the Fast & the Furious series is the only currently active franchise (besides I guess X-Men) that began before the world changed forever.
  5. I look forward to the day when my son discovers and binges the Harry Potter movies (which won't be until he's old enough to actually appreciate them) and I tell him about how I was there to witness all the insanity firsthand.
  6. More proof that the "mon" franchises cause all the pollution in the world.
  7. Webslinger: you so clever. I remember having really high hopes for this back when it came out and being disappointed by how very ho-hum it was. Incredible make-up and production design, but Mark Wahlberg was bland as hell (which sums his entire acting career pre-The Departed) and the conclusion was a pitiful attempt at topping the shock ending of the original that made zero sense.
  8. So many youngsters here, I feel like such a dinosaur. I was in college while ya'll were obsessed with Poke/Digi/Whatevermon. Might as well be shipped off to the same retirement home as Tele. LOL
  9. There really needs to be a filter on this forum that bans discussion of anything that ends with "mon" in these box office threads.
  10. I hope some theaters accidentally end up showing Sex Tape in front of an audience of kids expecting Planes 2. Just because.
  11. Yes! Speaking of which, 8 Mile's opening still amazes me to this day. I saw it opening weekend in a sold out theater.
  12. This show was absolutely hilarious. So overjoyed that it's coming back. Long live Valerie Cherish! "Note to self: after a long day at work, I don't want to see that!"
  13. Eh, maybe, maybe not. At least these movies did well financially and kept them at least somewhat relevant. Now they have completely faded into obscurity except for Travolta, to an extent (he hardly appear in movies these days, and after becoming a laughing stock over the Idina Menzel name botching at the Oscars, another comeback does not appear to be happening even close to anytime soon).
  14. Back to the actual topic of this thread (weekend numbers): Excellent start for Apes. The next two weekends are relatively light, so I hope it manages good legs. Another expected drop for Transformers, which will definitely miss $250M at this point. Tammy's drop is solid, should finish with a very good $90-95M. Jump Street, Dragon, and Maleficent all saw good holds yet again. Solid expansion for Begin Again. Chef continues to chug along nicely. Terrific start for Boyhood.
  15. The funniest things about Norbit and (also mentioned in the first post) Wild Hogs: If they were made today with the same actors, they likely wouldn't even make a fraction of what they did. All of their careers are basically in the gutter these days.
