  2. A live-action Dumbo? Oh lord, now that sounds like "really pushing it." Well, I'm certainly interested to see how it turns out, if nothing else. Ready to see "Pink Elephant on Parade" sequence reproduced in live-action form?
  3. I think I'll stay out of threads like this for a while. It's not helping my "Internet Depression" whenever I come online.
  4. It would have had tragedy not struck.
  5. It's not like August is guaranteed to be a big month either outside of the first weekend (Guardians of the Galaxy will obviously do well and Get on Up could be a force to be reckoned with if it turns out to be of quality and given the slim pickings targeted directly at adults this summer). Again, just very poor scheduling.
  6. I still don't know who in the hell decided these three should be the Independence Day weekend openers. Maleficent never should've moved from this weekend in the first place, it would've had no problem competing with Transformers. Just dismal, dismal, dismal scheduling all around this summer. So the answer to that Summer 2014: What Went Wrong thread is: people just aren't flat out refusing to go to the movies. They just don't want to see these movies. End of story.
  7. I still haven't seen Transformers 4 (and most likely won't even bother at this point). All these arguments over it are so foreign to me.
  8. LOL poor Telemachos. Next he'll be hearing questions about what it was like in the good old days living on the plantation.
  9. Watch yo back, Emma! Taylor's coming for Andrew Garfield next (just to write a break-up song about him, of course).
  10. LOL I'm one of those people that no matter how much the movie sucks, I always stick it out until the end. Especially when I forked over the cash to see it in the first place. It's been 3 days since I've seen this, and maybe it's because of...other stuff...but this movie basically become one big blur to me. It's not good, it's not awful, it's just...there. The definition of instantly forgettable.
  11. Thoughts: Expected drop for Transformers. Kind of softer than expected for Tammy but with a budget of only $20M it's already another winner for McCarthy. Very tepid openings for Deliver Us From Evil and Earth to Echo, neither of which was able to take advantage of a lack of horror and kid films on the market. Solid holds for Jump Street, Dragon, and (again) Maleficent. Jersey Boys also saw a pretty great hold. Kind of weak for America, thank god. Barf! Really good expansion for Begin Again, and look at Chef go still! I hope it makes it to $30M.

  13. Yeah, it's going to turn a profit by the end of this weekend. Considering the combo of weak ads and the poor reviews, the fact that this will still make $70M+ shows McCarthy has nothing to worry about, for now at least.
  14. What was the last movie Martin Lawrence was even in, anyway? The Death at a Funeral remake?
