Getting back to Frozen's box office run in Japan and the impact of the stupid decision to announce the release of the DVD while the movie was earning $12+ million weekly, let's think about Japan's movie going habits logically. We know movies in Japan have incredibly long legs. Frozen will have a 30x+ opening WE multiplier. What does this indicate? Japan's moviegoing audience has no problem waiting weeks or even MONTHS to see a movie. So think about what that means for the DVD release. If a Japanese Frozen fan can wait 3 months to see a movie, they can EASILY wait an extra 6 weeks for the movie to come out on DVD/bluray and rent the damn thing for $5.

Anyone with a thinking brain (including even "experts" like Corpse who was right there acknowledging its possibility) could see that $300 million was within striking distance before the idiotic decision by Disney to release the DVD in July, even though they could have sold just as many units in August, or even September. Disney isn't infallible. They have made plenty of mistakes and these are the kinds of moronic decisions that cratered Disney before this most recent resurgence.

lol. Do you live on Mars? Anyone buying a DVD ain't gonna care whether they buy it now or four weeks from now. They gonna buy it. A few extra weeks in the theaters won't mean JACK SHI* if a person is a devoted enough fan to buy a DVD/bluray/download. Frozen fan: "Damn i can't wait to own it. I loved this movie....Oh damn, gotta wait another month? I guess i won't buy it then." lol. Dafug??? If i love a movie enough to want to buy the DVD, why would waiting an extra month prevent me from buying it? Am i a moron? Will i "forget" to buy it since i have to wait one more month? This logic is ridiculous.

When did the DVD announcement occur in Japan? If the announcement happened in late May to early June, this chart CLEARLY and INCONTROVERTIBLY shows the effects of that stupid decision.

Unbelievable run by Frozen. Too bad the DVD release announcement cut its legs there, the same way it did here in the U.S. Several friends and acquaintances didn't bother seeing it in theatres and just ended up waiting for the HD download or blurays.

Sorry, it just pisses me off, when dudes like MovieMan talk about Frozen as if he has any clue about it. He's been wrong on everything about Frozen since it first came out. But fine, i too shall let it go. lol.

People should be held accountable for their opinions. I just wanted to remind everyone that this dude has been wrong about Frozen for MONTHS now. He really shouldnt be allowed to talk about it frankly.

Tangled is more polished and has better pacing, but jesus it is nowhere near a "brilliant" take on princess films. It is just another cookie cutter princess film. Very well done, slickly executed, and worth watching, but still, a cookie cutter princess film. Frozen absolutely crushed Tangled because of its characters and songs and the way it engaged everyone who watched it.
