  1. I would LOVE to see the top 3 films of the summer be Maleficent, Apes, and TF4. Maybe i'll start a club regarding this.
  2. I loved DH1 immensely because of two things. First, the tone of this movie is intense...you can feel the bleakness and isolation right in your bones as Harry and Hermione struggle to find the Horcruxes. And secondly, as a dedicated H/Herm shipper, this movie was like a dream come true. lol. This movie singlehandedly launched a thousand fanmade music videos on youtube. Overall i didn't much care for the movies though. I think Daniel is a terrible actor with zero onscreen presence/charisma. The only time he shines is when he interacts with Emma for some reason. I've read that Yates and the screenwriter are both huge H/Herm fans and you can totally see that in the way the movies emphasize their relationship.. Rupert and Emma are much much better overall, but when they are together, they look totally stiff and uncomfortable. And for me, these movies should be about all the crazy emotions that you feel as a child forced to grow up, and the directors/actors/writers did a terrible job in having those emotional moments hit home. Maybe it's a British thing?
  3. Yes. How difficult is this to understand? Moviegoers in Japan are INCREDIBLY patient. Frozen has a 33x multiplier for crying out loud. They will wait MONTHS to see a movie. That is why Frozen was doing $12 million per week MONTHS after its release. So if a certain Japanese moviegoer is willing to wait 3+ months to watch a movie, he or she could EASILY wait another 6 weeks to catch the movie on DVD/bluray. That is why you saw the enormous drop from $12 million to half that in two weeks. These are the casual fans. Now certain people will still want to watch in theaters or are repeat viewers (which is rarer in Japan from what i've read). These are the people who are supporting Frozen now in theaters. The rabid, fanatic fans who will probably watch the movie and then go buy the bluray after. Or those who may already own/viewed the bluray but want to experience Frozen in a theater. So, do you finally understand this? lol.
  4. Look at Maleficent's hold. Jesus, -15%?? It is the mini Frozen of the summer and the best run this year.
  5. lol. WTF are you talking about? The revenues dropped like a fukking rock after the DVD/bluray was announced. THe movie was doing $12+ million per week before the announcement. It did HALF of that a couple weeks after.
  6. Damn, that Maleficent is like a mini-Frozen. I really hope 240 million is in play!! #1 movie of the summer. lol.
  7. I would love for the summer top 3 to be Apes: $245 million TF4 : $240 million Maleficent: $235 million DOFP nowhere in sight.
  8. Maybe the difference is that Batman is a universally known franchise while Apes isn't. Every kid in America knows Batman, and a reboot with great WOM and reviews will get plenty of casual moviegoers to go see it. But not nearly as many are familiar with Apes. I really had very little prior knowledge about the first Apes movie and the trailers for that first Apes definitely did NOT make me want to go see it (I'm 40 years old so maybe i'm not the target demo?). I only happened to catch Apes on Fx a few months ago and that's when i ended up getting totally engrossed with it. The commercials i've seen for this film make it seem like it's basically a movie about a post apocalyptic war between mankind and apes. Which will certainly appeal to certain moviegoers. But will it appeal to the broad audience? I dunno.
  9. I dunno. I don't know which trailers i saw and don't remember all the details of each trailer but i do remember that the trailers made the movie sound like a very dark, violent and depressing feature. Maybe that was their intent, maybe they just wanted to make sure the core audience and existing Rise fans would come. Maybe they were just being honest and truthful about this movie's "dark" tone and theme. But I wonder if by doing this they alienated casual moviegoers (people who just want to be entertained) and families who can turn a $200 million movie into a $275-$300 million blockbuster.
  10. Only 10.3 million away from DOFP for the dubious title of #1 movie of this crappy summer , and gaining on DOFP every day. DOFP will finish with a rather disappointing 230-232 domestic...Maleficent only 12-14 million away. Of course this will all be moot since T4 looks to be on pace to meet its projections of $250ish million.
  11. Sorry, dude, my bad. I'm gonna go reread that thread and have me some laughs.
  12. Was he another butthurt dude that was ripping and bashing on Frozen??? I only remember the dude, MovieMan, primarily because everything he wrote about Frozen was 100% wrong. lol. Just check out the early weeks of Frozen's historic box office run and you'll be in tears at the things he said.
  13. Maleficent only $11 million behind that overrated DOFP! I hope the Dame keeps running. I don't know which movie i want to take the summer crown: Maleficent, TF4, or Apes. But hopefully, these 3 end up to be the top 3 movies this summer in whatever order.
  14. Exactly. Why don't people understand this? Movie fans who are actually willing to buy a DVD/bluray/HD download of a movie are not just going to "forget" to buy the DVD if you delay the release a few extra weeks. Especially a "leggy" country like Japan where people wait like 954324 weeks to see a movie. They can wait 3 months to see a movie, but they won't wait an extra few weeks for the DVD release??? lol. Come on.
  15. Movie made no sense to me. Individual scenes/moments and great action sequences were the only things good about this movie (A list actors helped). But overall storyline and plot...completely incoherent. Grade C.
  16. Frozen brings its 17-week total up to ¥24.63 billion ($241.5 million) with 19.35 million admissions. It has noticeably slowed down adding less than ¥400 million ($3.7 million) for the week, but such a figure in its 17th week is massive (only Spirited Away has a higher 17th week). It's looking to finish with ¥26 billion ($255 million) as long as the DVD release on July 16th and the July 19th openers don't kill it, but if it's withing striking range of Titanic's ¥26.2 billion total, Disney should and probably will go for it. Hopefully, the announcement of the DVD release has already done the damage that the DVD openers would have done. So that everyone who has decided to wait for the DVD has already been accounted for by the huge drop from $12+ million per week to $5 million per week that happened right after the DVD announcement. Plus with the summer surge, maybe we can see Frozen stabilize right around the $4 million per week level and hold that for another few weeks. This movie has already exceeded my wildest expectations. Taking in $260 million total in Japan, taking #2 from Titanic in the Japanese all time BO rankings, and taking in $1.28 billion worldwide will be the icing on the cake.
  17. lol. Funny GIF. Yes, i did see it. I don't know exactly what i saw but the parts that i actually appreciated were the emotional moments/dialogue which were obviously well acted and the individual action sequences which were obviously well done. But being reduced to just appreciating those individual moments in the film isn't all that entertaining. I want to appreciate the entire story as a whole, and i couldn't do that.
  18. I think it's incredibly overrated. With a fantastic cast that includes Stewart, McKellen, Jackman, Page, Lawrence, Fassbender, and McAvoy, i expected a story that would do them all justice. Instead i got a movie that was utterly incoherent to the point where i had no clue what i had just seen after watching it.
  19. Are you referring to my post regarding DOFP? I've stated that this movie is very overrated and lots of fanboys attacked me for it. So it sure would make me lol to see DOFP fall to a movie that all these XMen lovers seem to despise - Maleficent.
  20. God, i would LOL so hard if this came to pass. X-Men fanboys would be in meltdown mode for days on here. First, their overrated movie is obliterated by a barely legal cartoon Disney queen and her kid sister before it even opens, a cartoon that almost doubles DOFP revenue. Then, along comes this crazy reimagining of the oldest cartoon in the book, led by another Disney queen, which could very well come along and singlehandedly take on ALL the millions of X-Men and defeat them all.
  21. lol. No. None of those movies come close to Frozen. It's box office run has been unbelievable, the best run since Avengers, and the best run for an original movie since Avatar. With respect to that sorry list of movies you posted, Frozen punched all those movies in the mouth and walked right on past them. lol.
  22. lol. No. He is a hater. WIsh he would just come right out and admit that he wanted Frozen to fail in its efforts to topple Spirited Away. Now, all of a sudden, in the 12th hour, he somehow finds a way to make it even more difficult for Frozen to beat SA's dollar record.
  23. lol. Corpse, you are one big time Frozen hater, judging by posts like these and your likes of posts in the Domestic Forum that are critical of Frozen (the posts were regarding how much better HTTYD2 is than Frozen). Just be very very glad Disney botched the DVD/bluray release dates and didn't let Frozen run for another 4-6 weeks while it was still banking $12 million weeks. Spirited Away would have gone down in flames. lol. It would have been EPIC on here.
  24. God, i am gonna hope with all my heart that TF4 has the legs to beat DOFP this summer. The butthurt that would flow if both TF4 and Maleficent top DOFP would be legendary.
  25. lol. Reminds me a lot of when you were trashing Frozen's unbelievable run last year. . It's obvious...no one wants to waste two hours of their summer to watch an annoying nerd like Hiccup again. Maleficent is the mini Frozen this summer. I would ROFLMAO if its holds are so good that it tops that other overrated crap from the summer - DOFP. I know the chances are real low for sure, probably just 10% or so, but it would be oh so delicious to watch the meltdown here.
