Actually, Gatsby and Into Darkness opened on different weekends and their OWs combined are around 120m. The Nice Guys, Neighbors 2 and Angry Birds will make more than than in only one weekend. And in the next one, Alice and X-Men will make more than Fast+Hangover and the week after that, Turtles 2 + Me Before You will combine another 100m. CW has more competition than IM3 had. The difference is CW's second weekend doesn't have a Gatsby. But starting from the third weekend it is a massacre.

Only 11 movies ever opened with more than 100.000 adm of which: 1 in 2012 (the last Twilight) 1 in 2013 (The Hobbit 2) 2 in 2014 (The Hobbit 3, 300: Rise of an Empire) 5 in 2015 (Furious 7, Star Wars 7, Fifty Shades, Minions, Spectre) 2 in 2016 so far (Batman v Superman, Deadpool)

Also, how are people expecting great legs for this? Yeah, WOM seems to be good, but the competition (and I mean direct competition) will kill it after it's second weekend. None of the previous Marvel tentpoles (Avengers, AoU, IM3, Cap 2) had nearly as much competition (the openers in the next 4 weeks will likely combine around 1B).

UPDATE: 100.000 adm is sure to happen for Civil War. It's presales are not as good as the ones of Batman v Superman, but Disney will likely put CW on almost double the number of screens, likely setting a new record. Plus, that new cinema in Timisoara is bound to give it a huge boost. It has 17 shows every day there, of which 5 are IMAX 3D and 4 are 4DX. Considering Timisoara always sells at least 60% of the seats in any show, likely even more, that is at roughly 9.000-10.000 adm coming from that theater alone for the weekend. That might be enough to push CW in the BvS/Deadpool 120.000-130.000 adm realm.

I'm pretty sure a 100.000 adm OW is in the books for Civil War. That would be already the third 100k adm opener this year. It is quite amazing considering in 2013 we only had one, in 2014 we had 2 and last year we had 5. With many huge players still up ahead I imagine 2016 will set a new record. In other news, CinemaCity just opened the second IMAX screen in the country, in Timisoara, which is the second biggest city for the box office business after Bucharest. They also opened a 4DX theater there. That is great news and Civil War will clearly benefit from it. I think Iasi should be the next one to receive an IMAX screen.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure | Jan 26 2018 | Final Trailer on Page 18
James replied to CJohn's topic in Box Office Discussion
Actually, the last two are the only good ones. The first 2 are so meh. As for Maze Runner, are you people actually comparing it to Divergent? Why? TMR is, beyond any doubt, a big commercial success. The first movie made 10x it's budget, the second 5x. Both made 300m+ in 2D. If they add 3D to the final movie I'm sure 400m is achievable and Fox is very likely to keep the costs under 100m again. The first cost 34m, the second 61m. I think Death Cure could go as high as 80m. That is a no brainer for any studio. -
We will see. I'm still betting on 30m+

That would be half of DH2's 35.7m. Kinda disappointing.

Lol. Than I was wrong with the translation. The trending title was brazilian. I remember people here talking about that.

Considering Animales Fantasticos, and not the english title was trending worldwide, I want 35m for Fantastic Beasts in Brazil!
