At this point I'm surprised Blumhouse doesn't try to make its own studio.

That Deadline estimate is the only estimate we've seen for the weekend so far for PR, so it could end up being off.
And there are some fans out there who are trying their best to increase those Power Rangers ticket sales:
I assume he picked up discarded tickets off the floor

Feminism is the belief that men and women are equal. If you think that's a dangerous and evil idea, you should accept Jesus Christ into your heart. For God is love and if you don't love your fellow human beings, you don't have him in you.
Feminism is the belief that all men are rapists and sexual assaulters.

I agree. Change everything of the setting and make it American, that would definitely help for sure. You will have fans of the anime yelling but that is a small minority.
Death Note is set in America and people are screaming bloody murder over whitewashing with that. Probably mostly people who have never heard of Death Note before and want to look like they are doing something.
-
I'm sick of hearing about the whitewashing with Death Note, it's an American remake set in the states, I don't get the problem, but people want to make themselves feel better by bitching about it.

But the clown was all over the marketing, the poster was just the clown. I remember New Line almost totally cancelled the It remake due to Poltergeists box office performance.

yeah this alone will help the movie. I never got the they are scary bit, but obviously a lot of people do
It didn't really help the Poltergeist remake.

Remember when New Line almost cancelled It due to Poltergeists box office performance.

Didnt Unfriended have a big trailer views also?

I think they should swap the release date of this and Annabelle 2.

This is STX? That's quite a gamble, I just read an article about how they're having financial problems, a big budget bomb like this won't help. The only two hits they had where Bad Moms and The Gift.

so he still lead the kid in with a balloon? Thought they would change it to an Xbox or something
It takes place in the 80s.

I'm seeing more excitement for this than when Poltergeist came out.

So, Split oficially surpassed Annabelle to become the third biggest Horror movie of this decade, it is sitting at $265m, and it's going to finish at $280m+.
Get Out is slaying at UK, and has potential to be another $200m grosser.
Two Horror movies grossing $200m WW, and we still have It, Annabelle 2 and The Nun
Madness.
Wait, is The Nun coming out this year? I didn't think they'd even started filming yet.
-
They put this in an extra 400 theatres? Why? Something fishy is going on.
-
I'd say the biggest problem was that the trailers made it look so generic and uninteresting.
-
I'm in the UK and Power Rangers went into the smallest screen at the local theatre. Life went into a bigger screen, some friends told me it was the same in their locals, smallest screen.

It really does look like some kind of DTV film.
