  1. So how much world wide can this end up with?

With these actuals, we have around

    210m US

    100M China

    215M OS-C

Now i think this can make atleast 350m more in US, 400m more OS-C and 120m more in China. Thus leading to final total as such -

    550M US

    600M OS-C

    220m China

    1.370B WW

Now this could make more in US and less in OS-C but 1.3B+ seems more or less absolutely sure, 1.35B+ highly likely and 1.4B+ difficult but possible.

  2. not true. It made 200 mil in a far smaller market in japan. The market is 300 plus percent bigger now. 450-550m is in the cards for japan as well

What the fuck are you talking about? It has not grown at all. If anything it has deteriorated, at least for non-disney-princess hollywood movies. It will definitely drop their just like in every single other market that wouldn't have grown by atleast 25%.

  3. Btw I went to watch this yesterday in a local theatre and their were around just 25 people there....

Anyways the movie was quite good. Or quite entertaining atleast. Especially the second half.
Quite some thrills there. And the ending....It.Was.Huge.
Quite entertaining all in all. Even though i was pretty sure they won't be able to give us any real new thrills, they did manage to sneak up a few genuine ones here and there. The scenery was pretty beautiful too.

Also Loved how they turned the original's villain into this one's hero

    :D

  4. Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron took in another $17.6M during the current session for an international total of $894.2M and a global haul of $1.32B. It’s playing in 91 offshore markets with China in the lead at $225.5M, followed by Korea ($82.1M), the UK ($71.7M), Mexico ($49.9M) and Brazil ($46.8M). Japan will be the last international territory for Ultron on July 4.

So who all were those so sure of this crossing $80m in Mexico after the OW?

  5. That... was the most unexpected thing for me! Does this have the ability to hit $100 million if it keeps up at this pace?! Damn, I thought $20 was "blockbuster" level for this movie but it managed to pass that and more in just mere days! I'm going to put my bet on $50+ million!

What are you talking About? 50m will be reached during the next weekend itself, at the latest. Its almost locked to end up above Big Hero 6 at this point. Unless, I am missing out on something..like more than usual bondages on the movie for being a japanese one?

  6. Toy Story isn't as big of s brand as Finding Nemo.

Er... am I suppoed to laugh at this? I mean I loved Finding Nemo and it is definitely the second biggest Pixar brand (maybe tying with cars coz of its merchandise sales) but its obviously not as big as the super-loved toy story series. Its really amazing how one of the most awaited, most loved and concluding part (as it seemed then) of the most loved animated film series ever was unable to break Shrek 2's dom record. Really makes Shrek 2's achievment look very big.

  7. Huh? 500m without China with these XR is going to be one hell of a fight. Also, keep in mind the original JP made 555m OS (without the 3D re-release that added 70M) of which 120m came from Japan, where it likely has no shot of even getting 1/2 today.

Ok not easily but still its not as tough as you make it seem including China I think 650m OS is the least it should do while 850-900 at the most. As for OS-C, it really shouldn't go below 400m unless all love for the original and dinosaurs has gotten extinct there. I think the OS-C can be between 400m-600m depending on how good or bad it is and it has fair chances of getting to 500m.

  8. Avengers will see big drop on tuesday when IFrakenstein/Tomorrowland opens. Again on thursday when doreman opens it will lose more screens(Currently its listed around 6% but it should go up a bit). Next tuesday once San Andreas opens it will be hit again and its not going to gross much after that. That is why I dont see more than 20m more from China.

Jurassic World should be interesting to track. Its almost getting day and date release and genre is perfect for China. Anything less than 1B Yuan is disappointing and I think it has a chance to beat AOU.

As long as AOU ends below 250m, I think Jurrasic World has a fair chance of beating it

  9. As for wether this is a flop or not - the mere fact that it couldn't outgross its predecessor worldwide when that's really rare for sequels, especially sequels of loved movies, makes it really disappointing. While OS isn't much impressive, almost 1B OS at these exchange rates is still not too bad (although the rates were same for FF7). The real disappointment comes from Dom where its making TDKR numbers when its predecessor ended around a hundred million above TDK.

  10. It is a success, that's all there is to say. If you think a 200% increase over TA1 isn't a success that just means there is something wrong with you.

Ok, first of all don't try to act too smart and stop needless judging. There ain't anything wrong with us. The market's growth needs to be factored in. Also most sequels have been increasing a lot and this was expected play even better. While Its true that as long as it crosses 200m it may not be considered a disappointment, it can't be said to be impressive or a success at all too. Just alright or passable at the most.

  11. You know if you guys have finally got a little tired of all the fantasy-action animes I have a really really good slice-of-life (but not Shoujo) to recommend - Sket Dance. Its a really wonderful anime with an unending array of super-interesting, superb and well-realized characters. The episodes are goddamn-hilarious and can still move you to tears at points. The show shows real feelings and bonds of friendship that don't need the same frienship speech every two episodes like fairy tail to establish them. Each of the lead characters have backstories that make them all them seem all the more real. All in all the anime/manga are both really good and I think everyone should give this a try.
