China Box Office Thread | Oppenheimer-August 30
Lihongkim replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in China At The Box Office
I'm glad to hear that. Even I won't watch this on the big screen, I'm just so excited he's doing well. He deserves all these recognitions. I'm a bit worried about him. I think the reason why he was in this movie bc of China/Asia box office. If the movie didn't do well there, will its affect his future HLW work? I hope his new non-Asian fans will watch his Chinese film as well. I just hope everyone will know him as the Kung Fu/martial art master rather than his role in HLW. I'll watch this when it's available online. will watch only his part. -

I felt sad for my hero. I don't want to miss any of his films tbh, but hey it's the SW series. I have never watched one and don't want to watch either. How is his character? Did he get enough screen times? I just want him to do well and get worldwide recognition. He just broke into HLW in his 50s. It's kinda late but better than not. If the world has justice, he should become the king of action/martial art star soon. He already did it in my heart ???. -

At least he's better than the little fresh meat. His acting is ok if not good, Cold War2, Operation Mekong,... He has the villain-ish looking, so he suits the role as bad guy rather than hero. -

The film isn't ready for this Christmas. They just started promoting it on Dec.5. Even the trailer just come out few days ago. I believe WBQ is promoting in various cities. There are many films on CNY but only JTTW2 and KF Yoga are big. Adding WBQ, I feel more safe for Feb. Just watched the trailer, it gave me the Lost series feeling. I read somewhere months ago, it was plan as Lost in India & directed by Xu Zheng. Maybe it was transferred to WBQ. Not so sure if it's the same project. -

They are late on promoting and,of course, there are Zhang Yimou, Wong Kar Wei & Jackie Chan's movie. This movie is a part of Lost series, why don't they title it Lost in India? The hype will be bigger. -

Wasn't TGW written by American? He is already good at telling story, just check his previous films. -

I think the trailer told it clearly. Anyway, there is no good film coming out on Christmas day, so I probably will watch this, or at least for the sake of my fav actors, Jing Tian, Lin Gengxin, and Zhang Hanyu. Railroad Tiger won't be released here until New Year Day. -

I liked ZYM but I'm glad this will flop. Make good script next time and Let Chinese do Chinese film. -

ZYM again insults chinese history. In "The Flowers of War", a white man saved Chinese from Japan war. And now a group of white men saved China from monster. I lost interest when I saw Damon showed his arrow skill to impress Chinese generals. Wtf, I felt quite embarrassed. It's good to see more coproduction but this story is about the Chinese Great Wall, they should treat C-actor as the most important role. Chinese movies haven't targeted non-Chinese audience. Their film is very Chinese and mostly adopted from the novel which only well-known by Chinese. That's why C-movie isn't successful in oversea market. -

They still watch Wuxia drama everyday on TV though. When it comes to movie, agree that it has lost its power. Everyone grow up watching it so if it's just sword fighting, there is nothing new. Tsui Hark's wuxia film still have successful box office in recent years though. -

The plot is so simple and the cast is not big enough. Even Tsui Hark's name was attached, still can't save it.They shouldn't remake old classic movie. Still wait for Tsui Hark's Dee 3, I heard Lin Gengxin is one of the main lead. He was cast in every Tsui Hark's works since Dee 2. -
