  1. DS got benefit from double 11, the world's biggest shopping day.
  2. This black comedy movie was signed 500M guarantee, so I go with 700M+. It already won 3 awards from international screening. His last comedy film, Personal Tailor, made 713M three years ago.
  3. I Belong to You has become the highest grossing Chinese romantic film, beating Book of Love.
  4. When king of comedy meets king of wuxia. Tsui Hark plans for this movie adaptation more than 10 years. With Stephen Chow's help, this is a must see. The cast? I don't mind it at all since Stephen Chow's movie always has crappy cast but end up surprise audience. I'm sure casting Kris and Lin Yun is Stephen Chow's idea while Lin Gengxin is Tsui Hark's. The rest Yao Chen, Bao Beiér, Da Peng, Wang Likun,... I liked Lin Gengxin and Bao Beiér. Anyway, Tsui Hark has 2 films release in 2017. JTTW2 and the remake of classic martial art "Miracle Fighter" starring Wu Jing and Nini.
  5. As far as I know, Feng Xiaogang's I'm not Madam Bovary signed 500M guarantee.
  6. I'm sure for Nov (absolutely increase) since last year BO is not big. But Dec ? Last year top 5 Nov BO (If I'm not wrong) : 1. Spectre 535M 2. Martian 333M 3. Our Times 278M 4. Exfile 2 : 250M 5. Maze Runner 2 : 178M This Nov, we will see Doctor Strange, Billy Lin, Fantastic Beasts, I'm Not Madam Bovary, Warriors Gate, ...etc Last year top 5 Dec BO (4B) : 1. Mojin : 1368M 2. Devil & Angel : 595M 3. Mr. Six : 467M 4. Surprise : 320M 5. The Martian : 260M This Dec, we will see The Great Wall (Dec.16), Buddy in India (Dec.23), The Waste Times(Dec.23), Sword Master(Dec.2), Suddenly 17(Dec.2),...etc If JC's Railroad Tige didn't move from Dec.16, Dec should be alright. Now it'll highly depend on Zhang Yimou's The Great Wall.
  7. OM 1st Sat 60M 2nd Sat 52M Looks like 3rd Sat will top those 2 previous weeks.
  8. If Rouge One Jan.6, it has 21 days before CNY. The success of R.O will bring more chances for C-actors into Disney/HLW.
  9. Next year most anticipated movie? Tsui Hark & Stephen Chow's first collaboration "JTTW2" Jan. 27. 2017
  10. Film director strongly expected the movie will make 1B at box office. Looks like it'll be true.
  11. So I Belong to You is going to top this long holiday box office. UNEXPECTED! Xiao Nai power!
  12. I'm wondering about this too. As always, L.O.R.D will have huge OW and then fall like a rock. But with that pre-sale, it won't even have huge OW. Can't believe it's pre-sale is lower than "I Belong to You".
  13. Who are those people? So Train to Busan hasn't released in your country?
  14. There are so many good Asian films you need to watch. Continue your journey guy...
  15. I'm glad that you liked Mermaid. I watched it with my family during CNY. It's so enjoyable and I could hear everyone in the cinema laugh so hard.
  16. Pretty good hold for TVB Line Walker. The drama version is quite good.
  17. It should be around 945-960M when 2 big hlw movies come out next Tue. 1B is still ok. Btw, L.O.R.D next Oct will be huge consider Time Raiders bo is doing pretty good despite its bad wom. Both are fan-driving movie.
  18. Week 1 = OW / 3 days. I think even movie can earn $1B from China, it is impossible that it can earn 2.8B from its 3 days OW. If the movie is good, it will do well on the following weeks and of course extension. SW7 did nearly $1B in NA, yet it's OW is just 248M, far from 2.8B / 420M +. I think if the movie has good wom, 2nd week (7 days) >/= ow (3 days). I will wait until Rouge One comes out. Still remember American was crazy about SW7 last year.
  19. If 3 local movies ( Sword Master, A Chinese Odyssey 3, Luc Besson's The Warriors Gate ) didn't move out, August probably can top July. I'm not so sure that those 3 movies will do well though. Edit : July may be the last down month. How Oct and Dec bo last year?
