I thought LEGO 2 was very ambitious. Would expect nothing less from a Lord/Miller project. Basically tipples down on the first film's twist. Execution a step down from the first and the LEGO Batman Movie. Over-reliance on singing, including at least 3 more variations of Everything Is Awesome. Humor is on point. Top-notch pop culture comedy.
Feels a lot like Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. A worthy successor that refuses to settle for less but at the same time doesn't reach the same heights. I enjoyed seeing it, but don't think I'll be repeating it like I do those other two LEGO films (I don't care to see Ninjago)

I can't fathom how this will open to 50m+.
This film looks bad. Any of the three trailers released so far could make a case for being the worst individual trailer of the year. Aside from Tom Hardy, who is always entertaining, I've been disgusted by the horrible dialogue, generic visual style, the dialogue again, boilerplate story, and that 'turd in the wind' level dialogue.
Venom isn't a character with mainstream appeal. It's hilarious Sony thought that ending the first teaser with Venom's cartoonish face would resonate with the masses. Is Sony banking on Spider-Man comic book fans to turn a profit here?
If this film was halfway decent, it could perform well, but this looks like a train-wreck.

Not surprised to see seizure warnings being issued. I called that almost 2 weeks ago.

The number of posts discussing a banned member always greatly outnumber the amount of controversial posts from said banned member.
Fascinating.

I've heard a few seizure concerns spreading around. Hopefully Disney addresses that before it becomes a CONTROVERSY
It’s a concern. Specifically one 90ish second sequence about half way through the film.

Wow that's great! How would you rate it out of 10?
Too fresh for a number. It’s great. Didn’t walk out thinking there were any major flaws. Main thing that irks me is that the core narrative isn’t as focused as it was in the first film. But that’s a tall ask.

Saw Incredibles 2 tonight at one of the AMC advance screenings. It’s great. The story isn’t as strong as the first, but it makes up for it by advancing and challenging already established character dynamics. Action is good. humor is top-notch, especially in the second act, which had my theater rolling and will resonate with anyone who’s ever been in a family (which is almost everyone).
There are some scenes I feel should have an acompying epeleptic warning...

There cannot be peace without, first, a great suffering. And the greater the suffering, the greater the peace.
Solo, as a product and it's reaction, following up the controversial TLJ 5 months later, was the suffering for Star Wars. Peace to follow.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 ends up as a better investment for Disney than this. Bruckheimer's probably getting his POTC 6 pitch ready now.

I hope they don’t give up on that. Will be great to have something rival the Spectre and Passengers fudge to milestones. Buy a Solo ticket, get a WIT ticket free.
I remember the Spectre fudge (and my favorite, Tran4mers' OW), but what was the deal with Passengers?

Episode IX likely won’t get the OW record. But it’s like Brazil stepping onto the field during a World Cup, it at least has to be considered a threat to do so
I can't wait to see Episode IX fall 7-1 in the semis.

Some of the worst dialogue I’ve heard in recent years.
This looks, sounds, and feels just like a blockbuster greenlit 18 months before release. Which it was.

It’s unfortunate that Letitia Wright didn’t have a bigger role in this. Missed opportunity. I want her to a be a big movie star, these studios suck.
She'll be fine. She's the 15th billed star on Infinity War! Everyone dreams of being the fifteenth billed star in something.

I'm feeling more optimistic about RPO's box office potential compared to my thinking three weeks ago. The two very recent trailers (Dreamer, Come With Me) where leaps and bounds better than the first two trailers, and the impact they made on me I'm sure was felt elsewhere. A trailer's best asset is excellent music selection, and the covers of Pure Imagination and Take On Me used in recent marketing are wonderful.
Word was good out of SXSW, and the Rotten Tomatoes score has only continued to increase since the initial batch of reviews (reminds me of Ant-Man). I was very apprehensive about the film's quality until a month ago, but it looks like it should be a genuine crowdpleaser. Before I was thinking this would top out at 120m. Now I'd say 150m.
I think I'm most excited to hear Silvestri's score. I'm expecting a good amount of musical references. I'm going to explode whenever the BTTF theme comes up (A sure bet to play given the DeLorean will make several appearances, and Silvestri)

Was anyone actually impressed by the first teaser back in October? I remember feeling nothing for it then, and upon rewatch, it remains unremarkable, other than one or two shots. Production design, costume design, and almost all of the cinematography looks bland, nothing that inspires true horror, and no star power whatsoever. No wonder Fox wants to add new chara*stars*cters.
By the time this is out, the first trailer will be 22 months old. What's the record for length between a film's first trailer, and it's release? Closest I can think of is G.I. Joe Retaliation (16 months).

This is the best trailer they've shown. Should have been the first one.
I agree. And the "Pure Imagination" trailer should have been the second and final.
The first teaser from Comic Con last summer, and the follow up trailer they ran with in December (with horrible use of Van Halen's Jump) were both boring. Up until a month ago, the marketing for this felt very dull, but this late marketing push (studio must have realized the buzz was lacking) both give a feeling of warmth and humanity, whereas the first trailers felt cold and mechanic.

I've seen some (admittedly more active) members plug their YouTube channels, so I thought I'd share mine.

And the BP audience (the extra audience - not the usual MCU fans) might not necessarily turn up for IW just because BP is in it, look at WW/JL.
Not a fair comparison. JL couldn't even retain the audience from BvS, much less add to it. And that speaks to the quality of those individual films. Even WW I feel was vastly overrated.
I'm curious how much focus Marvel puts on BP/Wakanda in the final marketing push for IW. I know several minor characters from BP will be in IW, so lets see if Marvel makes them seen.
Also, even if only a little of the BP audience shows up, with a little of the Doctor Strange audience and a little of the Guardians audience, it still adds up to Marvel's widest potential audience yet with Infinity War.

Something between Deadpool and The Avengers, I'd imagine.

So BP 4-day will be either just below or above JL's total DOM take, per Deadline. Fingers crossed for 'above'...

Eh. Repeated too many bits from the first trailer. Doesn't give any new story information. There's no pacing, the trailer doesn't build to anything. Just a montage of events. Also odd that they are releasing the second trailer just a month before release. Kind of feels like DC is keeping this low-key.
