  1. The history will remember James Cameron as one of the greatest artists, businessmen and explorers in all human history.
  2. Does anyone have any knowledge about how much digital HD sales are nowadays? Have there been growth on that market lately? Does it maker more money to studios than physical media at this point?
  3. It tells a lot that even Arnold, the quintessential alpha male, looks up to James Cameron. I think that lot of the hate Jim gets stems from the fact that he is so alpha that he makes people feel beta and that makes them feel threatened. Deep-down the haters know that they just can't compete with this animal.
  4. People who claim that Jim is egotistical should realize that stating the facts has nothing to do with the ego!
  5. http://www.the-numbers.com/home-market/packaged-media-sales/2016 The Force Awakens had now made $100+ million in domestic HV sales.
  6. 10 years ago almost everyone had bought DVDs and most people had 10+ DVDs not just cinephiles. If you go and ask around how many have bough VOD titles from iTunes etc. I am quite sure that it's not even close to as common as buying DVDs was 10 years. Netflix seems to be only digital alternative that is as popular as DVD once were. Sadly it's business model just doesn't generate even close as much revenue for film industry.

  8. Netflix etc. doesn't generally have any new movies so it's effect to HV sales of new releases probably isn't that big (at least compared to piracy). And if by legal streaming services you meant pay-per-view platforms like iTunes and Google Play that do have new movies, no I don't think that I am conflating the effect of piracy when compared to legal streaming services. 10 years ago almost everyone had bough DVDs and most people had 10+ DVDs not just cinephiles. 9. Maybe not to a Hollywood's total revenue (although I am skeptical how anyone could proof it because so many different thinks affect it) but it absolutely has decreased HV sales. Especially in younger generations. It's completely delusional to deny that. Now days it's mostly film buffs that collect Blu-rays, 10 years ago almost every home had quite sizeable DVD collections.
  10. I wish you were right, but I am quite sure that the real reason is piracy.

  12. Listen, and understand! James Cameron is out there making his next movie! He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until all the box office records are broken once again. You still don't get it, do you? He'll do it! That's what he does! That's ALL he does!
  13. James Cameron will once again raise the bar and break all the box office records. Listen, and understand! James Cameron is out there making his next movie! He can't be bargained with. 14. The Broadway part, yes. But I don't recall them mentioning Virtual Reality and it's affect to the future of cinema.
  15. Why are you ready to pay for digital games but not for digital movies? And how do you see the future of film industry if more people think like you. VOD is constantly being pushed forward and with things like Oculus Rift theatrical release might soon be thing of the past. Or at least very niche thing. So do you see that movie industry will collapse because people will pirate everything? I certainly hope not. I am myself buying both physical and digital movies. But my most favourite movies I want to have as physical copy. And as Bluray preferably.
  16. How do you see it? Today I tried first time in my life VR headset and used demo where I was watching movie inside a movie theatre. It blowed my mind. When I think who good and widespread that technology might be in 5 years, I have to say movie theatres might be in trouble. That makes me sad in nostalgic way, but there is no stopping technology. The good part is that with virtual cinemas there could be truly global openings nights for movies. But then again, with VOD piracy is always a bitch, but maybe some good services will get people to pay more for content instead of pirating. I think that there will always be movie theatres, but it might be that they are probably going to become very niche. Maybe they become sort of like Broadway. Screenings with live orchestra in luxurous settings and high ticket prices. There have been lately some screenings of epic movies like Titanic with live orchestra so maybe that's the future? What do you think?
  17. I am mainly here because as a young filmmaker myself I am interested to learn more about the financials of movies. But why are people seem to only care about Box Office and not other sources of revenue? Of course HV sales are so fragmented that they are harder to track, but still it's surprising that no one seems to even mention them. Movies are basically deemed to be financial success or disaster in first couple of months, but surely good movie is able to make profit years and even decades? In last couple of months I have seen lots of indications that Original Jurassic Park and Mad Max trilogies has also sold quite well because of new movies. I am quite sure that movies like The Godfather or Titanic still make decent amount of Bluray and VOD sales, but nobody even takes these thing in the account. In last couple of months I have seen lots of indications that Original Jurassic Park and Mad Max trilogies has also sold quite well because of new movies. Does anyone know how much something super popular like Titanic might still do in revenues per year? I've seen it sometimes still to peak in iTunes Romance movies top 10 (at least in my country) so it has to made some what good revenue still.
  18. Do you think that it will all be streaming or digital downloads in coming years or will Blurays still be a thing in the future?
