  1. Loved this movie. The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. Leo and Tom did a great job. The bear scene was nicely done and the last confrontation was very personal. You felt like you were there? "All you gotta do.....is blink". How do you not like that scene?
  2. Just one more week guys and we will roll until the New Year.
  3. I live in Houston, which has about 6.5M in the area. Around me there are three megaplexes. The nicest one (Palladium AVX) is around 8-13 anytime. Next one down is Cinemark and that is 6-9 for the regular and 13 for XD. Then the AMC at the mall is 4-7 anytime. Around me prices go up depending on quality of the theater. It just depends. We didn't have all the premium formats back in the day, but the matinee/evening prices have been about the same for a long time.
  4. People say Universal made everything they touched turn to gold, well WB turns everything into tar. They have been in a slump lately.
  5. They released it at the worst possible time. This is a beginning of summer type movie. It wasn't even that bad.
  6. The Captain America movies have been the best written. TFA was good, but then WS came out and was even better. WS especially had such strong word of mouth now because of how good the reviews were, on top of the exploding popularity of Marvel films. Because of that, Civil War is going to overperform, imo. I never even cared for Captain America as a super hero, but those strong reviews pulled me in. I watched them just this summer after seeing AoU. He will do a lot better overseas than the previous two movies. Btw, on War Room, I think the drop today will be pretty insignificant. A lot of churchgoers will go after church to see the movie (probably many sermons mentioning the movie).
  7. Well, thanks Compton for ending summer on an interesting bang. With mo film getting above 20M this week, summer is officially over. All of the movies generally have just one screen at my theater, with some having two and others getting two for primetime showings.
  8. It'll at least be in premium format theaters, which is the same as most "Imax" screens nowadays.
  9. Straight Outta Compton August 23rd, 3:25PM Santikos Palladium 22 (google this theater..it is like a damn mall), Richmond, Texas ~60% full Missed the previews and first 30 seconds of the movie, but that was alright. Crowd was not like the first crowd when I saw Compton on opening weekend. That crowd was live. Some people sang along, huge laughs, etc. Was really fun. This crowd today was more relaxed. Didn't hear any singing, but there were still good laughs.
  10. There are a lot of reasons why Compton dropped. You have to remember, MI5 first Wednesday was still in the middle of summer, so it having about the same number as Compton bodes well for SOC (not to mention the difference in rating). A lot of the audience for Compton is college kids and this week a lot of people are leaving home and moving into dorms, at least where I live (Texas). I don't see how Compton is crumbling. This weekend it'll debut at #1 with at least 22M, especially with the additional theaters. I know of a few people that plan on seeing it this weekend once the work week is done.
  11. You can say that about ANY movie, especially the superhero ones. SOC can be about hip hop, police brutality, the "American Dream", unnecessary extra security for the film, the hundreds of theaters adding it because it was underestimated, a movie with an all Black cast crossing over, etc. There is a lot.
  12. You can't just dismiss him being with the same woman for 20 years. She hasn't mentioning anything about being beat or victimized. Dre was just a violent person in general in his younger days. People mature and change. If he was really blackballing her, then that was wrong too, but that stuff happens all the time in the industry. As far as him putting it in the movie, what biopic doesn't have white washed elements? Maybe in another 20 years if there is a remake he will have it in there like Cash did when he was in his 70s before doing it.
  13. I don't know how much longer we have to crucify him for it. He has apologized multiple times in multiple interviews. It has been 20 years since the incident and he has been with the same woman for 20 years too (and Ice Cube has for over 20 years). Both of them do a lot of chairty work. Dre is building a performaning arts center in Compton.
