  1. Welcome and can see that english is not the first language. Ask away, always good to have new people interested in tracking the box office.
  2. Holy shit, the early look at numbers for TG2 has it expectedly but hilarously blasting way in front of both JWD and LY this morning.
  3. Yep. There is still an opportunity for him and WB to "save" all of this. Have him show up, clarify what is going on, apologize profusely and then head straight to rehab and then stay off the radar completely for the next 12 months. Let his co-stars promote the movie and then move on from him.
  4. The best thing about this weekend is the industry consensus is growing that Bob Chapek has returned Disney to the late 90's and 00's when their direct to video animation severly damaged their brand in a way that was only recovered by Pixar first saving it and then subsequently Disney Animation got its groove back with quality theatrical releases. Pixar films for over 20 years Pixar films were highly anticipated and a level of quality that was unmatched. In 2 years Bob Chapek and Kareem Daniel have flushed that down the toilet and made it something similar to waiting for Lilo and Stitch: Stitch Has A Glitch or Bambi II to hit DVD and distract your kids with for a couple of hours and forget it. LOL that ol' Bob / Kareem / Disney are about to get kicked in the teeth in 2022 by movies like Sonic 2 and Minions: The Rise of Gru while their $200m budget Pixar film is an afterthought.
  5. This right here is the biggest misconception about streaming. How is putting movies on Paramount+ at 45 days instead of 90 days or even 120 days increasing their subscriptions or causing people to keep their subscriptions? Spolier alert, the reality that nobody wants to talk about is that it doesn't affect it one single impactful bit. Once a movie goes to streaming, it lives there forever. All you do by sending it there early is cut the legs out of the 3 tiered revenue stream that makes the maximum amount of money. Also, there is nothing in the world for movies like the entire theatrical infrastructure to give clout and legitimacy to movies. That is why movies that release in theaters with exclusive windows stay around in the minds of the public and on the radar compared to movies that go right to streaming that are watched and forgotten almost instantly.
  6. Yeah, I just disagree with this. $8 a month with no ads for everything is insanely cheap, even for struggling families. You can barely get a value meal at a fast food restaruant for that much.
  7. Bob Chapek is one of the dumbest mother fuckers on the planet. His firing (non-renewal) is going to be delicious.
  8. This will be the earliest number I have ever given, but after nailing it early yesterday for TG2, let's try it again. As I suspected, it is starting off far hotter than the last 2 Saturdays. I'm going to go with $17m for today. Then it should be flat tomorrow or even slightly increase. $45m+ weekend total and a 10% to 13% drop from last week.
  9. I've been looking forward to next weekend thinking about this. My guess is Elvis can win it, but that run time is going to limit it and the failure of Lightyear/Chapek coupled with the magic of Father's Day Weekend means that TG2 doesn't lose any screens or shows.
  10. I think maybe the miscommunication is I'm using "Locked" in the gambling sense, as in a "stone cold lock". Yes, I know that nothing is 100% until it happens in a literal sense, but barring nuclear war TG2 is 1000% locked in the sense of the statment. Hope that helps clear it up.
  11. There is also going to be an element at play here that everyone from AMC down to local chains are going to be more than happy to stick it to and step on a Disney film for once when next week comes. I would bet that many theaters cut down to 1 screen of Lightyear in favor of continuing to hold multiple screens of TG2 and even JWD along with giving Elvis more room due to its length and potential popularity. Minions the following week is really going to cut Lightyears guts out along with 4th of July being good for TG2 and JWD.
  12. I understand it perfectly well. It seems like you are the one that actually doesn't understand it in this case and think that it only is "locked" once it hits the number in question.
