  1. Yeah, it's not on January's first top 20 and there are several movies under 5 screens making the cut. I guess 1.171.275 would be MP1's total.
  2. Hi and thanks! Do you have the MP1 data? According to MinCultura it's already 100 thousands over it but I'm not sure if that's until Dec 31 2014 or total.
  3. The weekly data. This is Dec 31 - Jan 6 (Th. to Fr.) Second and eleventh place are Colombian (El abrazo de la serpiente got a push since it made the last 9 in the Best Foreign Film preselection and might get a nomination next week). Number 5 is Spanish and number 9 is Argentinian. The 12th is French. 4. Meh. Let them enjoy their bubble. It won't will away real life.
  5. Well, I don't know if it is popular. I know it exists because of a couple of articles using it to highlight social reactionary behaviour in Brazil (not saying the show itself is, just that it stands in opposition to Globo's more progressive products) but I'm not usually too aware of what's on daytime tv here, which is where a foreign show would be.
  6. Ok, the list for Colombia includes movies from this decade pretty much (plus two weeks from the past one) due to market expansion (134,5% growth in admissions per year vs 2008). Tons of 3D and animation, the typical off-shore market. Universal has top 2, followed by two Fox movies and then 5 Disney films with the interruption in sixth place of, believe it or not, a local documentary. FILM YEAR ADMISSIONS Furious 7 2015 4.374.998 Minions 2015 3.146.650 Ice Age: Continental Drift 2012 2.956.012 Avatar 2009 2.760.570 Avengers: Age of Ultron 2015 2.481.292 Colombia, magia salvaje 2015 2.361.663 Inside Out 2015 2.319.088 Monsters University 2013 2.313.423 Marvel's The Avengers 2012 2.244.686 Toy Story 3 2010 2.158.294
  7. I've heard about it, yeah. Is it like a spin-off or the final or something? Why is it getting a theater release?
  8. Six movies opening today. Wide: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip Point Break Spotlight ¿Usted no sabe quién soy yo? (Don't you know who I am?) - Local comedy Limited: Le Week-End Macbeth
  9. Both suck. Give me Fox's mutants, tyvm. After the dark ages of X3 and Origins they are the one series that actually knows how to be fun (unlike DC) and have proper themes and arcs (unlike Marvel).
  10. Great film. Loved little details like Gosling's fake tan to remind us what a douchebag his character is. Carrell is great. The fourth wall breaking and info dump cameos worked really well. I was entertained and horrified. I still need to watch Spotlight but I'd be pleased with this as Best Picture winner.
  11. Ok, so, for Colombia I tried two methods: 1) BOM gives us a benchmark of 1.5 million dollars that gives a similar amount of films per year as 100 millions DOM. That would give you a multiplier of 66,6. Now, there's a lot of different prices depending on city, day of the week, time of the day, seat, 3D, 4D and a bunch of other stuff but the Ministry of Culture gives us an average price of 9000 pesos. With current ER that would give us a multiplier of 200 admissions to DOM equivalent dollars. 2) The benchmark of 1 million in admissions is usually surpassed by 10 to 15 films, the same ammount for 200 millions DOM. That lines up with method 1. So, I'd say it would be 66,6 dollars to dollars and 200 admissions to dollars.
  12. This is what I've been able to find for Colombia so far, this list includes the ones that made the top 20 in every year since 2009 and top 5 in 2007 and 2008. Some notable films missing from these years: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Green Lantern. FILM ADM.
